No Magic to Predicting Sales

Ever wonder how retailers decide when to put certain items on sale? It makes sense that snowboards are on sale now in the summer (in case you missed it, check out our daily deals last week!) and seems pretty logical that you can score a great deal on costumes the day after Halloween, but did you know there are actually set times of year that many items typically are put on sale? And since massive numbers of retailers hold sales for similar items at one time, there is a lot of competition and even lower prices for these items.

So, no crystal ball required! Here is a breakdown of sales by popular consumer items – Courtesy of Better Homes & Gardens:

Cameras & Camcorders: February, March

Carpet & Flooring: January

China & Flatware: March, September

Computers: August, December
