Getting to Know Charlon Muscat

I’ve spent most of my professional career working in iGaming. It all started through sport. I played soccer from the age of seven and made my senior debut at a semi-professional club at 16. That pushed me toward a sports degree, which later led to a role at Paddy Power Betfair within the sportsbook team.

In 2020, I was offered a content writing role as a subcontractor, which gave me the chance to use my sportsbook background while branching out into online casinos and sweepstakes, all while chasing a long-standing goal of traveling full-time. Six years later, I am still on the move, now 75+ countries in.

My main focus is casino, sportsbook, and bonus reviews, along with soccer betting previews, learning guides, slot reviews, and strategy pieces. What sets my content apart is perspective. I write from the player side. At the end of the day, I am a casual gambler myself, whether it is a poker night with friends, a casino visit while travelling, or putting together a soccer ticket over the weekend.

Q&A With Charlon

Nothing beats a no deposit bonus. Sweepstakes sites are great for that. You jump in without spending a dime and still have a real shot at redeeming prizes if the cards fall your way. When it comes to real money casinos, I tend to lean toward the Bet X, Get X type of deal. The headline numbers might not look massive, but the rollover is often far lighter than the flashier offers.

“It’s due.” I think this one does the most damage. A slot does not get frustrated after ten dead spins and decide to pay. Roulette does not “owe” red because black landed five times. Every round is independent of the one before. None of the games have any memory of what happened earlier. Always play for the fun of it and stick to your limits.

Going too aggressive on a promo that caps the upside anyway. Always look at the max win limit. If, for example, the ceiling is $200, there is no point risking play on high volatility games, because even if a big feature lands, chances are that most of that win would get clipped by the cap. Lower volatility titles are far more likely to keep you in the game while working through the rollover.

I always start a casino or sportsbook review by signing up and using the platform myself. That means making a deposit, playing through a few games, claiming the welcome offer, checking what other promos show up, chatting with support, and going through everything I would normally do as a player. From there, I break it all down step by step and measure it against what is standard in the industry and the other top sites I use day to day. After that, I go through community feedback on places like Reddit and Trustpilot to get a feel for what other players are saying and how it lines up with my own experience and conclusions.

Play real money games in demo mode. If you’re on a sweepstakes site, use GC first. Don’t chew through your bankroll trying to work out whether a slot or live dealer game is any good.
