It’s official: BetMGM is the newest online casino operator to launch in Pennsylvania. BetMGM, a joint venture spearheaded by MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings Plc, has now established a new gaming footprint in the Keystone State. December 4 marked the online casino’s launch, rounding out the already-large stable of online casinos available for Pennsylvanians.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said: “We’re thrilled to bring BetMGM’s online casino offering to Pennsylvania. With more than 140 different games, including our own in-house progressive jackpot network, we’re delivering the widest range of content currently available in the state. Alongside MGM Resorts and its M life Rewards program, BetMGM will provide players with a truly unique entertainment experience.”
On top of its online casino, BetMGM plans to launch its sportsbook product in Pennsylvania as well. In the online casino launch announcement, the company indicates that the online sportsbook “will be available statewide in the coming weeks, pending necessary regulatory approvals.”
Pennsylvania’s Online Gaming Scene
Pennsylvania is somewhat of a pioneer for online casino gaming. It followed only New Jersey in terms of online casino go-lives, and it has become a model state. Other jurisdictions look to Pennsylvania to help craft their own legislation and bring online gaming to their own markets.
BetMGM joins a long line of operators with its online casino. Currently, the Pennsylvania roster includes:
- BetMGM Casino
- DraftKings Casino
- FanDuel Casino
- Unibet Casino
- Caesars Online Casino
- Hollywood Casino
- SugarHouse Online Casino
- PokerStars Casino
- FOX Bet
- Parx Online Casino
It’s an impressive slate of operators, and more are certainly on the way. BetMGM’s entry into the market makes it all even more competitive. And incoming operators, such as Golden Nugget, will only ramp up the competition in the Keystone State.
BetMGM On The Move
This isn’t BetMGM’s first launch, and it certainly won’t be its last. The operator is also gearing up to go live with both sports betting and online casinos in Michigan. It will launch in the state using its MGM Grand Detroit license.
Like Pennsylvania, Michigan is expected to be a highly competitive market. The PA launch and upcoming MI plans show that BetMGM is looking to make a mark in the most contested US markets. Keep an eye out for more developments in both states over the coming months.
