bet365 launched in Alberta alongside a new partnership with the Canadian Football League, ahead of the Grey Cup in Calgary.
Golden Nugget
Golden Nugget launched as a casino-only app, with no sportsbook tab competing for space. As DraftKings’ second brand in the province, it runs on the same Dynasty Rewards loyalty program, so status carries over for players who also use the DraftKings app.

Most day-one apps shipped on both iOS and Android, sharing the same games and cashier. iOS builds appear on the App Store once an operator confirms its Alberta licence, while some Android apps download from the operator’s own site.

Who Regulates the Alberta Market
Oversight is split between two bodies. The Alberta iGaming Corporation is the new agency that conducts and manages the commercial market, handling the platform side of the launch and the agreements each operator signs.
AGLC sits on the regulatory side. It writes and enforces the rules, registers operators and suppliers, sets the compliance standards, and runs the province-wide self-exclusion system.
One thing that follows from this two-step setup: any app a player can legally use has already registered and paid its fees. In short, a licence in Alberta means the operator has cleared that bar.
Player Protections From Day One
Alberta chose to launch with safeguards already in place rather than add them later. From the opening day, every licensed app has to carry the same core protections.
- Market-wide self-exclusion. A single request through AGLC’s centralized system applies across every licensed operator at once, not one site at a time.
- Independent RG Check accreditation. Operators must meet this outside responsible-gambling standard, not just their own.
- Built-in safer-play tools. Deposit limits, time limits, and reality checks are part of every licensed platform.
