Alberta’s regulated online gambling market continues to gain momentum ahead of its July 13 launch, with the number of registered iGaming operators now reaching 43.
The latest Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registration list, published June 5, shows 43 approved operators, up from 28 operators listed in early May. The increase highlights continued interest in Canada’s newest regulated online gambling market as operators race to secure positions before launch day.
The newly expanded roster includes several recognizable online casino brands that already operate in Ontario’s regulated market, including PlayOJO, Spin Genie, SlotsMagic, and PowerPlay.
The list is headlined by major North American operators such as DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, and BetRivers, but the newest additions suggest that the Alberta online casino and sports betting market is also attracting a broader mix of casino-focused operators.
PlayOJO Brings Its No-Wagering Model To Alberta
One of the most notable additions is PlayOJO, the casino brand operated by Skill On Net.
PlayOJO has built a reputation around its no-wagering bonus model, allowing players to keep bonus winnings without having to meet traditional rollover requirements. The operator also offers more than 3,300 casino games and runs its OJO Plus loyalty program in Ontario.
The brand’s player-friendly approach has helped it stand out in Ontario’s crowded online casino market and could make it one of Alberta’s more distinctive casino offerings at launch.
Skill On Net Expands Presence With Spin Genie And SlotsMagic
The latest registration list also includes Spin Genie and SlotsMagic, giving platform provider Skill On Net four separate brands registered in Alberta.
Spin Genie is known primarily as a slots-focused casino brand with a streamlined interface and frequent free-spin promotions. It has a mobile-friendly design, CAD payment options, and straightforward user experience.
SlotsMagic is another established online casino brand in Canada. The brand is known for its broad game library, mobile-first experience, and focus on casino players rather than sports bettors, making it a notable addition as Alberta’s market continues to diversify beyond sportsbook-led operators.
With PlayOJO, Spin Genie, SlotsMagic, and MegaCasino all appearing on Alberta’s registration list, Skill On Net could become one of the province’s most visible multi-brand operators at launch.
Operator Count Has Increased By More Than 50% Since May
The latest figure represents a significant increase from the 28 operators listed by AGLC in early May.
That means Alberta’s approved operator count has grown by nearly 54% in roughly one month as the province prepares to transition from the PlayAlberta monopoly model to an open-market framework similar to Ontario’s.
Industry observers expect additional registrations before July 13, although it remains unclear how many operators will be fully ready to launch on opening day.
AGLC’s latest operator list includes sportsbooks, online casinos, and multi-product operators from Canada, the United States, Gibraltar, Malta, and other international jurisdictions, underscoring the broad interest in Alberta’s new market.
