Betty has been making strides in Ontario and is preparing to expand into new regions after a strong finish to 2024. Betty, a pure-play online casino that caters specifically to women, said in its Q4 report that it hopes to launch a franchising model to become “the McDonalds of iCasino.”

On LinkedIn, Betty’s chief executive officer, Justin Park, highlighted the company’s 2024 performance, including net revenue of US$114 million and a growing user base. To the latter point, Betty grew its active user base to 40,000 players after starting the year at just shy of 5,000.

In the post, Park emphasized that this success was all happening in Ontario alone, with the potential to grow more with access to additional markets.

As we enter 2025, we are thinking bigger and bolder. We are starting to develop the confidence that our product and operating philosophy can catapult us into becoming the world’s largest gaming and entertainment brand.

Park suggested, albeit jokingly, that Betty was “coming for” several of its largest competitors, including FanDuel and DraftKings. He continued, striking a more realistic and heartfelt note on Betty’s plans for the coming year.

In all seriousness, we aim to become multi-jurisdictional this year. This is where things start to fall apart for most gaming businesses. I’m both excited and anxious. Need to keep reminding myself that I’m not doing this alone and that the vision is supported by the talented, dynamic, persistent, and fierce Betty team. I suppose this year we’ll find out just how real all of this truly is.

Park then offered access to Betty’s full Q4 report for details on how it plans to “become a global brand.”

Bonus immediately jumped at the opportunity.

Betty aims to become the ‘McDonald’s of iCasino’

Although parts of the report remain confidential, Betty deemed the gist of its expansion efforts—based around a decentralized franchise model—fair game.

The report, which appeared as a letter from Park to investors, further detailed Betty’s “McDonaldization” plans.

Betty will achieve global scale in an entirely different way: by becoming the McDonald’s of iCasino. Much like McDonald’s, Betty will establish a worldwide presence by partnering with top-tier managers and providing them with the necessary tools for success.

Betty Canada looks to Alberta, in-house app and games

To align with these plans, the company announced that, moving forward, its business in Ontario would be known as Betty Canada.

Betty’s co-founder, Chavdar Dimitrov, whom Park praised in the report, will helm the newly christened offshoot.

Chavdar is one of the most capable operators and thinkers I’ve ever encountered. Those who know me are aware that I rarely make statements like this.

Betty Canada’s new CEO will focus on maximizing shareholder value for its Canadian business platform and oversee strategic direction, resource allocation, and capital formation. Dimitrov will have support from a newly formed C-suite, including COO Emil Yordanov, CRO Deyan Valtchev, and CFO Dan Evans.

According to the report, Dimitrov has already outlined plans to double revenue through “several key initiatives,” including launching a fully native mobile app. Also on deck is an expansion into Alberta and the development of original games.
