The World Series of Poker Circuit is returning to Great Canadian Casino Toronto for the first time since the deal that made the two exclusive partners in the province of Ontario. Taking place from April 10-22, the circuit stop will comprise 11 events, including a three-flight Main Event with a $2,000 buy-in.

The price tag on the other events in the series ranges from $300 for the Ladies event (or $400 for the lowest-priced open-field events) up to $3,500 for a High Roller, taking place just after the Main Event.

Great Canadian Entertainment announced in January that it had secured a partnership with the online poker operator GGPoker, which now owns the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The deal guarantees that any future WSOP-branded events in Ontario will take place in the Great Canadian Casino Toronto poker room. That includes Circuit ring events like the upcoming stop, but also potentially chances to win WSOP Gold Bracelets in the future.

Online qualifiers are available through GGPoker’s sites which, in Ontario, include WSOP.ca. GGPoker Managing Director Sarne Lightman said:

We are excited to continue our partnership with Great Canadian and deliver premier poker experiences. By combining the best of live and online poker, we’re ensuring players have unparalleled access to the WSOP Circuit in Ontario.

What’s new for WSOPC Toronto’s second run?

The WSOPC first came to Toronto last year. The success of that first run paved the way for the companies’ exclusive relationship going into year two.

What’s going to be different the second time around? In a word, more of everything. More events, more rings, bigger buy-ins, and more variety.

Great Canadian Entertainment and GGPoker will surely be hoping for bigger fields as well. Last year’s combined fields amounted to over 6,000 entries. Roughly 1,600 of those came in the Main Event, which produced a $2.8 million prize pool.

There were only eight events last year, starting at $250. All were No-Limit Hold’em tournaments, with the only variations in format being a Turbo, a Deepstack, and a Six-Max.

This year, the Six-Max is gone, but Pot-Limit Omaha fans will have their shot at a ring in Event #7. Meanwhile, the trendy Mystery Bounty format makes an appearance in Event #5, while women and seniors get their own dedicated events.
