Alberta’s regulated online gambling market continues to expand ahead of its July 13, 2026, launch, with bet365 and BetVictor now officially approved to operate in the province once the market opens.
While BetVictor adds another international sportsbook brand to Alberta’s growing roster, the bigger story is the addition of bet365 — one of the largest online betting operators in the world and a company that has become a major player in regulated U.S. sports betting over the past several years.
The approvals further strengthen Alberta’s incoming commercial iGaming market, which is expected to resemble Ontario’s competitive framework that launched in 2022.
bet365 Continues North American Expansion
bet365 has been one of the most aggressive international operators expanding into regulated North American markets.
The company already counts itself among the list of regulated Ontario online casinos and has steadily launched across numerous U.S. states, including New Jersey, Colorado, Ohio, Kentucky, Arizona, and Illinois. Over the past few years, bet365 has built a reputation for its live betting offerings, broad international sports coverage and extensive online casino catalog.
It was widely expected that bet365 would be among the first Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks to enter the province, and this week’s announcement confirms that all systems are go for the July 13 launch of both bet365 online casino and sportsbook.

Alberta represents another major opportunity for bet365 to strengthen its position in Canada. The province has a population of nearly 5 million residents and a strong sports culture that could make it one of the country’s more attractive online gambling markets.
For Canadian players already familiar with the brand from Ontario, bet365’s Alberta launch could provide a similar experience with sportsbook betting, live wagering, and online casino gaming available through a regulated provincial framework.

BetVictor Also Cleared For Alberta
BetVictor was also approved alongside bet365, adding another experienced European sportsbook operator to Alberta’s launch lineup.
While BetVictor has a smaller North American footprint compared to bet365, the company has operated internationally for decades and maintains an established online sportsbook and casino presence in several regulated markets.
The addition of both operators further deepens Alberta’s competitive field ahead of launch day.
Alberta Market Continues To Grow Before July 13 Launch
Alberta is set to become Canada’s second province with a competitive regulated iGaming market after Ontario opened private-sector online gambling in 2022.
The province passed the iGaming Alberta Act in 2025, creating a framework that allows private operators to legally offer online sports betting and casino gaming under oversight from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).
bet365 and BetVictor join a growing list of approved operators that already includes major brands such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, PointsBet, and theScore Bet.
Alberta had roughly 28 approved operators as of early May, though additional approvals are still expected before launch.
The province’s launch is being closely watched throughout Canada and the broader North American gambling industry, particularly given Ontario’s success in attracting operators and generating online gaming revenue since opening its market.
