Bonus TL;DR
- GeoLocs launched Fraud Shield in September 2026 to provide real-time fraud monitoring and automated risk management for gaming operators.
- Certified by the AGCO, the platform targets Ontario’s market to help operators combat an estimated $1 billion fraud problem.
GeoLocs by mkodo has launched Fraud Shield, a new fraud detection and player risk management tool for regulated gaming operators. The September 2026 launch expands the company’s geolocation compliance platform into fraud monitoring and automated player risk response.
According to GeoLocs, the tool is designed to identify issues including multi-accounting, account sharing, device manipulation, compromised devices, suspicious behavioural patterns, bonus abuse, collusion, and the use of jailbroken devices. Operators can set their own risk thresholds and response rules, with potential actions including investigating, monitoring, restricting, or blocking players.
What Fraud Shield is designed to do
GeoLocs said the product is intended to reduce manual reviews, speed up investigations, and help operators address risk in real time. The company also said stronger evidence for investigations should improve detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and support regulatory compliance.
Will Whitehead, commercial director at GeoLocs, said fraud teams are under pressure to act quickly without disrupting legitimate customers, adding that the challenge is not only spotting suspicious activity but understanding which signals matter and how to prioritise risk.
Owen Compton, senior product manager at GeoLocs, said the company built Fraud Shield to give operators “the intelligence and flexibility to make better risk decisions,” while leaving the final response under operator control.
Why it may matter in Canada
The launch is particularly relevant to online casinos in Canada, as GeoLocs is certified by GLI and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and the platform is already live with operators in Ontario. GeoLocs also says it supports compliance requirements across North America and Latin America.
GeoLocs described online gambling fraud as a roughly $1 billion-a-year problem for the sector. Fraud Shield will be demonstrated at SBC Summit Lisbon and G2E Las Vegas.
mkodo, the company behind GeoLocs, was founded in 2001, has operated in the Canadian market since 2011, and became a subsidiary of Pollard Banknote in 2020.
