Most poker players have never stone-bubbled five poker tournaments in their entire lives. Adrian Mateos did so five times in ten tournaments at the 2026 PokerGO Tour Poker Masters series, sending shockwaves throughout the poker world.
Despite being on the wrong end of half of the tournaments, the consensus best poker player in the world—whose elite track record spans both live high rollers and high-stakes online poker arenas—managed to add another notch to his impressive resume by winning the PGT Poker Masters Purple Jacket.
The Spaniard cashed three times during the series, finishing second to Nick Palma in Event #2: $10,500 NL Hold’em for $151,200. He followed that up with a win in Event #5: $10,500 NL Hold’em for $229,500 and a fourth-place finish in Event #7: $15,700 NL Hold’em.
In addition to the prestigious Purple Jacket, Mateos was awarded a $25,000 PGT Passport, redeemable for any future tournament on the PokerGO Tour.
Though the aforementioned Palma came in second on the leaderboard, just ahead of Nick Seward, it was Jeremy Ausmus who had a shot to knock Mateos off the podium on the final day. Palma only needed to cash the final $51,000 NL Hold’em Championship to overtake Mateos but bubbled on the final day, finishing eighth, as seven players bagged for Day 2, with five making the money.
After Ausmus clinched an in-the-money place and none of the other contenders were in the hunt, all he needed to do was finish in the top two to win the Purple Jacket. However, he lost a coin flip with pocket fives against eventual champion Sean Winter, whose ace-king suited won after an ace came on the turn.
Despite winning the jacket, Mateos only finished fifth in total money earned for the series, behind Winter, who earned $620,000 for winning the $50K alone, as well as Sam Laskowitz, Nick Seward, and Ausmus.
