UK-based online casino and sportsbook operator bet365 has opened its new US headquarters in Denver, Colorado, and begun hiring nearly 1,000 employees. Situated at One Platte, bet365’s new US foothold occupies 120,000 square feet of completely renovated office space.
Although bet365 has operated a gambling site in New Jersey since 2019, it kept a low profile until ramping up its US expansion in the past year.
Governor Jared Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced the expansion—referred to throughout the OEDIT review as Project Forge— in a media release shared on Monday.
Gov. Polis welcomed bet365 to the state and lauded the creation of “good-paying” local jobs:
We are thrilled to welcome bet365 and nearly 1,000 jobs to Colorado and congratulate them on the grand opening of their new U.S. headquarters here. bet365 will create nearly 1,000 new good-paying jobs and as many as 300 this year that will help Coloradans earn a good living and support their families. We are confident they will quickly find that our great state is the best place to live, work and do business.
Tax Credits Offer ‘Win-Win’ for bet365, Colorado Workers
From its new home base, bet365 will focus on growing its US brand awareness. The release notes that the company is “known for excellence” in technological innovation and its “commitment to employee well-being.”
A bet365 spokesperson said Denver is “the ideal” location for its American expansion.
Unveiling our US headquarters in beautiful downtown Denver represents a watershed moment in bet365’s North American journey. The Mile High City and its thriving business community is the ideal location to launch the next chapter in our company’s future, and we’re excited to create an industry-leading, innovative workplace in our new home.
Hiring-wise, bet365 plans to employ over 300 in year one for positions spanning customer service, trading, software development, and technology. The company also plans to fill marketing, legal, finance, facilities, human resources, and recruitment roles.
In return, the Colorado Economic Development Commission has earmarked $14,055,942 over eight years for a performance-based Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit. However, the incentives are contingent on bet365 meeting job creation and salary requirements.
OEDIT executive director Eve Lieberman said the deal between the company and the state will be mutually beneficial.
We are confident that Colorado’s nation-leading quality of life and culture of innovation will make our state a great home for bet365, and believe this expansion is a win-win, including Colorado workers. bet365 is committed to creating good-paying jobs and a culture of excellence for their employees.
After Biding Time, bet365 Makes its US Move
Globally, bet365 employs more than 7,000, including a presence in New Jersey, where it launched in 2019. As of today, the Denver office has hired approximately 50 people.
Earlier this year, Bonus News Editor Alex Weldon speculated bet365 had been biding its time with its US expansion. The opening of its US headquarters only a few months after expanding its online casino and sportsbook operations to Pennsylvania seems to confirm that theory.
In Denver, Mayor Mike Johnston lauded bet665’s arrival and boost to the economy, predicting the addition will increase the vibrancy of the city’s downtown.
We are excited to welcome bet365 to its U.S. headquarters’ new home, the Mile High City.
Raymond H. Gonzales, president of the Metro Denver EDC, recognized the collaboration required to make Project Forge a reality.
We’re thrilled to welcome bet365 and their U.S. headquarters to Downtown Denver, marking a significant milestone in our region’s economic growth. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support and collaboration of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Economic Development Commission, the City and County of Denver, and Mayor Mike Johnston’s Office; we thank them for their dedication in helping bring this project to life.
With the aid of OEDIT’s incentives investment, this project will not only create up to 1,000 high-quality jobs but also solidify Denver’s reputation as a hub for innovation and business. We look forward to the lasting impact this partnership will have on our community, driving both economic opportunity and vibrancy for Denver’s downtown for years to come.
