BetMGM and MGM Resorts International said they will contribute a combined $320,000 to responsible gaming initiatives as part of their September partnership with the American Gaming Association for Responsible Gaming Education Month.

The announcement matters because it combines funding, venue-based player-protection messaging, and employee training at a time when operators continue to face pressure to show how responsible gambling programs work in practice. The companies also said more than 3,000 employees have now been certified as GameSense Advisors.

According to the companies, the funding will support research through the International Center for Responsible Gaming, sponsorships for state problem gambling councils, support for the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, and a donation to the Evive Foundation.

BetMGM Chief Compliance Officer Rhea Loney said in a statement that “player protection is a priority every day at BetMGM, and RGEM allows us to highlight those efforts.”

GameSense messaging expands across sports venues and digital channels

MGM Resorts and BetMGM said GameSense messaging will continue in select NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks and expand to Las Vegas venues including T-Mobile Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena.

The broader venue list named by the companies includes Allegiant Stadium, Acrisure Stadium, Empower Field at Mile High, Ford Field, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, M&T Bank Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Nissan Stadium, State Farm Stadium, Great American Ball Park, Comerica Park, Fenway Park, PNC Park, and Nationals Park.

The companies said responsible gaming messaging will also appear on digital platforms, retail sportsbooks, and the MGM Grand Live Dealer studio. BetMGM Sportsbook messaging will tell players to “take a time-out” and include QR codes linking to responsible gaming resources.

MGM Resorts said its Las Vegas marquees will carry GameSense and American Gaming Association content promoting “Play Smart from the Start.”

Employee training and research partnerships remain part of the campaign

MGM Resorts said GameSense Advisor training now reaches employees in more than 45 departments. Stephen Martino, the company’s senior vice president and chief compliance officer, said reaching 3,000 certified advisors reflects how many employees have “chosen to take an active role in promoting responsible gaming for our guests.”

The companies also outlined additional September efforts. MGM Resorts said it is partnering with Carleton University on a casino employee research study and will work with the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling to host educational booths at Las Vegas properties throughout the month.

BetMGM said it will continue its partnership with EPIC Global Solutions for employee lived-experience sessions, send customers targeted emails promoting GameSense and responsible play, and launch guest and customer surveys on responsible gaming.

American Gaming Association Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications Rob Lockwood said the collaboration helps keep responsible gaming messages visible to players while supporting research and programs tied to safer play.

One detail remains unclear in the announcement: the press release URL references $300,000, while the release text and supporting facts cite a combined $320,000 contribution.
