Golden Nugget is the latest online casino to launch in Pennsylvania, but it has hit the ground running with a substantial catalog of slots and table games on offer. Despite launching less than two months ago, Golden Nugget already has nearly 600 slots and 40 table games in its lobby, including games formerly exclusive to DraftKings.
Though new to Pennsylvania, Golden Nugget Online Casino is one of the original homegrown US iGaming brands. Golden Nugget Atlantic City extended its presence into the online space shortly after New Jersey opened its doors to legal online casino gaming in 2013.
Golden Nugget is a company with a lot of experience but has tried to keep things fresh in the Keystone State. Most of the slots you’ll find there are new releases, though Golden Nugget has made sure to include a few all-time player favorites like Cleopatra, Cash Machine, and Jin Ji Bao Xi: Endless Treasure.
Six hundred slots might sound like a lot, but Golden Nugget’s original site in New Jersey is up to nearly 1,500. Rather than clutter the lobby by bringing the entire catalog over to Pennsylvania, it has kept only a few hundred top performers and fleshed the site out with a lot of new content.
That includes 37 games that DraftKings Casino developed in-house for its own use. DraftKings acquired Golden Nugget Online Gaming in May 2022, which explains why Golden Nugget is able to offer the games as well. However, this is the first time the company has experimented with that crossover—you won’t find DraftKings exclusives on Golden Nugget’s site in any other state.
DraftKings Exclusives at Golden Nugget—Only in PA
Most online casino content comes from third-party developers. DraftKings has been trying to differentiate itself from competitors by investing in an in-house game development studio.
Many of these custom games are variations of blackjack since that is tremendously popular with DraftKings’ core audience. Some of these, like Vacation Blackjack and Retro Blackjack, are just the standard game with a unique visual theme applied. Others, like Spanish 21, include unique mechanics.
Golden Nugget won’t be able to offer sports betting in Pennsylvania because of the type of license it holds. Pure casino users, unlike sports bettors, tend to prefer slots to table games. Fortunately, the DraftKings exclusive titles available at Golden Nugget PA do include several unique slots you won’t find elsewhere:
- American Treasures
- Just Kitten Around
- Loki’s Luck
- Neptune Waves of Wonder
- Playboy Diamonds
You can find all the DraftKings content under the Exclusives tab at Golden Nugget PA.
What Slots Are Available at Golden Nugget PA?
With almost 600 slots at Golden Nugget PA and more being added on a regular basis, we can’t list them all. However, we can tell you what studios they’re working with in Pennsylvania and what each studio is known for:
Evolution
Evolution itself is best known for its live dealer casino products, a few of which are available at Golden Nugget PA.
However, it has also acquired some of the biggest European names in slots development, including NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, and Red Tiger. If you’ve played any slots at all, you’ve probably played something from one of Evolution’s subsidiaries. Examples include Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, and Divine Fortune.
IGT
One of the world’s oldest and best-known slots developers, IGT is the force behind many highly recognizable classics like Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania 2 and Fortune Coin.
Light & Wonder
Formerly known as Scientific Games, Light & Wonder (LNW) took on the new name at the same time as it dispensed with its sports betting and lottery wings to focus on iGaming. Like Evolution, many of its games come through subsidiaries, most notably NextGen and SHFL.
You may know NextGen from Foxin’ Wins or Medusa, while SHFL is behind some of the most popular Asian-themed slots like 88 Fortunes and Dancing Drums.
More recently, LNW acquired Lightning Box, whose games include Blown Away and Lightning Leopard.
High 5
Headquartered in New York City, High 5 is the most prolific American slots developer, with hundreds of games in its catalog. You may know them for games like the Da Vinci Diamonds series or Platinum Goddess.
Gaming Realms
Ever played a Slingo game? That’s Gaming Realms. They strike partnerships to make Slingo adaptations of other companies’ popular themes.
Everi
Many of the old-school mechanical reel slots you see at Las Vegas casinos come from Everi. They also make online adaptations of this, including the smash hit Cash Machine.
Microgaming
Microgaming isn’t a single developer but an aggregator that partners with a lot of tiny studios, each with its own unique approach.
White Hat Studios/Blueprint Gaming
White Hat Studios is a relative newcomer to the US market but is rapidly expanding its footprint here with overseas hits like Rolling in Gold. Its parent company, White Hat Gaming, got into the slots business by acquiring another studio, Blueprint Gaming. Most of White Hat’s slots were developed by Blueprint before the acquisition and still bear that name.
Inspired Entertainment
Inspired is headquartered in the US but has offices in the UK, Italy, and India. It’s best known for virtual sports products but also makes slots, including the Reel King series.
Incredible Technologies
The company behind the enormously popular arcade game Golden Tee Golf, Incredible Technologies is also a bit player in the slots space, best known for its Crazy Money and Roller Wheel series.
AGS
AGS was nearly acquired by Inspired Entertainment, but that deal fell through so it remains independent. It’s another small studio whose most popular titles include Bonanza Blast and Jade Wins.
Aruze
Aruze Gaming is in financial difficulty and is in the process of being acquired by Play Synergy. That hasn’t stopped its Ultra Stack series from being popular with Golden Nugget players in other states.
