  • Prediction market platform Kalshi has announced a multi-year $3 million partnership with New York nonprofit Housing Works to expand healthcare access and job training, marking the largest single-donor charitable gift in the organization’s 36-year history.
  • The funding will directly support the expansion of the Housing Works 125th Street Health Center in East Harlem and grow its “Ready for Work” training program, with Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour emphasizing the company’s New York roots and a commitment to ensuring under-resourced residents maintain access to critical medical and community services.

Kalshi and Housing Works have announced a multi-year $3 million partnership to expand healthcare access, workforce development, and community services in New York City.

The organizations said the funding will support an expansion of Housing Works’ 125th Street Health Center in East Harlem and grow its Ready for Work job training program. Housing Works described the contribution as the largest single-donor gift in its 36-year history.

Funding targets healthcare access and job training

According to the announcement, the health center expansion is intended to let Housing Works serve more patients and help maintain continuity of care for New Yorkers most at risk of losing coverage. The groups also said Housing Works’ neighborhood retail locations will be used as community touchpoints for outreach and engagement.

Housing Works President Matthew Bernardo said in a statement: “This is the largest charitable gift in Housing Works’ history. We are proud that a New York-based company has chosen to invest in New York communities at a moment when the need for healthcare, workforce opportunities, and supportive services continues to grow.”

Bernardo added that the partnership “will help protect and expand services that thousands of New Yorkers rely on every year.”

The announcement also pointed to a broader healthcare access challenge in the city, saying about 500,000 New York City residents are uninsured and that figure is expected to rise over the next 18 months.

Kalshi cites New York roots in announcing gift

Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour tied the partnership to the company’s New York history.

“We built Kalshi in New York, and this city has given us so much,” Mansour said. He added that Kalshi’s first office was near the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in SoHo and said the company had come to understand the nonprofit’s role in providing healthcare, housing, and job training.

As the leading prediction market platform navigates complex regulatory battles and local policy friction, initiatives like this philanthropic commitment highlight how digital exchange operators are deepening their community roots in key metropolitan centers.

“These are our neighbors,” Mansour said. “This is a city where two people in a small apartment can build a company, and it must be a city where everyone gets a fair shot.”

The organizations said the partnership will include a focus on transparency, measurable outcomes, and ongoing community engagement. The announcement did not specify the funding schedule for the multi-year commitment or break down how much of the $3 million will go to healthcare expansion versus job training and other services.
