Video game streamer Amouranth is now a social casino ambassador with PlayFame, a sweeps-based operator that launched this summer. Like other sweepstakes casinos, PlayFame uses a dual-currency system allowing players to play for fun with Gold Coins or try to win cash prizes with Sweeps.
Amouranth’s page on the site currently features a short blurb reading:
Hey, it’s Amouranth! I’ve made a name through streaming, and now I’m stepping into the spotlight at Play Fame. I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride! Get ready for exclusive games, neon-lit fun, and epic rewards. Let’s light up the reels together at PlayFame!
Amouranth, whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, is among the high-profile streamers who made the jump from Twitch to the more gambling-friendly Kick last year. She hadn’t personally promoted gambling at Twitch, but her hot tub streams, “ear-licking ASMR,” and other racy content often pushed the boundaries of the site’s adult content policies.
Kick, which is owned by the founders of cryptocasino Stake.com, has looser content policies and was trying to establish itself as a haven for some of Twitch’s edgier content producers. Stake also operates a sweeps-based site, Stake.us, for American customers, as cryptocurrency gambling isn’t legal in the US.
So far, Amouranth hasn’t mentioned her ambassadorship on her social media feeds. However, according to a Facebook post, the first Kick stream showing her playing on the site took place on Oct. 8. A mention of the partnership was also posted to the r/amouranth forum on Reddit.
PlayFame’s game lineup includes dozens of slots, but the only table games available are the live dealer variety. These include some from Playtech, which also has US-based studios serving the real-money online casino market.
Former Criticism of Gambling Streamers
Amouranth has, on at least one occasion, been critical of streams that promote gambling.
Another high-profile Twitch streamer, xQc (real name Félix Lengyel), moved to Kick at the same time as Amouranth. Unlike her, his focus at Twitch had been on the sort of gambling streams the site had begun to crack down on.
Two years earlier, they had feuded over their differing notions of acceptable content. Lengyel had expressed disdain for Amouranth, other streamers, and the site’s “Hot Tub” category in general, calling those streams “trash” and suggesting that they violated site policies and should be removed.
Siragusa’s response was to accuse Lengyel of trying to deflect controversy surrounding his own gambling streams, which she said promoted “an addictive product.”
Social casinos like PlayFame say they aren’t gambling products because they don’t use cash. When playing the games using Gold Coins, there’s no chance to win money either. Bonus was unable to determine if Amouranth’s first stream had her using Gold Coins, Sweeps or a mix.
