My experience with Tropicana Casino is an interesting one, as I began my journey behind the scenes, helping to operate the original Gamesys iteration of the site. Once the site migrated to the Caesars Entertainment platform, I was able to experience it from the player’s perspective throughout this testing process.

I had a solid overall experience with Tropicana Casino throughout my testing. I found that the game offerings, promotions, and overall user experience were enjoyable. I also appreciated the integration with Caesars Rewards, which is known as one of the best land-based/online hybrid rewards programs for good reason.

Overall Product Rating & Key Takeaways

I gave Tropicana Casino a 3.9 out of 5 stars, and our users have rated it 3.7 out of 5 stars, so our review scores mostly align. I will say, however, that I believe it could score even higher with some minor changes (I’ll discuss these throughout my review).

All in all, I think that there are strong pros here, but also some cons worth mentioning, which I’ll do in the next section.

Where I Found Tropicana Casino Available Online

Tropicana Online Casino is currently only available in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I conducted my testing in New Jersey, which is where it was first available and is the original iteration of the site.

Both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania online casinos appear to be mostly the same in game selection, and identical in experience, so I feel confident that this review is accurate for players in both states.

Navigating Tropicana Online Casino: My Impressions of the Platform

Tropicana Online Casino operates a straightforward user experience on both desktop and mobile. It’s worth mentioning that the mobile app experience seems to be the preferred method of play and has some nice, intuitive features built into it, which I’ll cover in the mobile section below.

Desktop Experience

The overall desktop experience can be summed up in a small number of words: simple, straightforward, clean, and easily navigable. There’s nothing too flashy here, and I think that adds up to being a good thing, as players’ primary focus should be on getting to the games and bonuses. I will say, however, that this experience leaves it feeling slightly outdated, despite launching in 2023.

The homepage greets you with an appealing background image of Tropicana Casino Atlantic City overlaid with a promotions slider and the game catalog. The top navigation bar is simple, featuring Promotions, Mobile, Caesars Rewards, and Support. The prominence of the “Mobile” link is another feature that leads me to believe that the mobile app experience is the preferred method of play here, as I stated earlier.

The game catalog is equally simple, featuring categories and a search bar at the top, followed by rows of game tiles. I have to say that I really appreciated the ability to demo almost every game by hovering over the tile, even when logged out.

Beyond that, the category choices were adequate in my opinion, featuring a mix of both base game categories (Slots, Live Dealer, etc.) and ad-hoc categories (Featured, Trending, etc.). Pressing the “More” dropdown gets you categories such as Table Games, Blackjack, Megaways, Other Games, Lucky Tap, Roulette, and Video Poker. I generally like to see the main game categories more prominently, but I appreciate that the more unique categories can help less experienced players find games that may interest them.

Speaking of finding games, that brings up a slight issue I had with the game catalog. Every tile featured the ability to open an info screen. Theoretically, these info screens are meant to offer information about the game you’ve chosen. As you can see from the popup above, I found most to be blank. In addition, I think that the “More Games Like This” section is a fantastic idea, but most seemed to be unmaintained and simply showed the games at the top of the alphabetical order list.

Coming from the operator side, I will say that I completely understand how hard a feature like this would be to maintain, especially with a game catalog as large as Tropicana’s. However, I feel like it appears sloppy to have it unmaintained like this, and I wonder if there’s a way to simply remove the feature altogether.

Moving on from that, I have to say I really appreciated the straightforward nature of the promotions page. It featured game tiles on the left, promotional information on the right, and prominent Learn More buttons that led to landing pages for each promotion with easy-to-find terms and conditions. While those terms and conditions may not be ideal, which I discuss more in my Tropicana Casino promo code review, I like that they are prominent and easy to review.

All in all, I thought the desktop experience was intuitive and straightforward, if unremarkable. I like to save my excitement for the games and bonuses, so I don’t mind a lack of excitement in the site design itself. I will say, once again, that I think the most modern experience you can have playing at Tropicana Casino is through the mobile app, which I’ll cover in more detail next.

Mobile App Experience

The mobile app begins with a tutorial on different gestures and swipes you can utilize to easily browse and navigate. As you can see above, these shortcuts allow you to do a lot on the app, including real play, demo play, and launching game details. They also allow you to reveal a search bar complete with suggested searches, which are essentially the categories.

As you can see above, launching game details mostly caused the same problem as on desktop—blank and unmaintained informational screens. However, having this tap feature makes more sense on mobile as it allows you to access real and demo play without having to use a swipe gesture.

The home screen of the app is equally as simple as the desktop, featuring a promotions slider at the top, categories below that, and a list of games below that. At first glance, the list format of games seems a bit bland, but it does allow you to navigate quicker than a screen full of game tiles would. In addition, it allows Tropicana Casino to display more useful information for each game on the main game catalog page, such as the categories that the game falls into.

It’s worth mentioning that I did have some trouble finding the Promotions page on mobile, and once I did, I felt like it could have used an easier journey to get there. I had to tap my player icon on the top right, then tap Loyalty & Promotions, then tap Promotions again. At that point, it simply loaded a screen that had the webpage embedded on it. I think that a simple floating gift/bonus icon in the app could do well here to simplify that journey.

Overall, however, I found my experience with the mobile app to be positive. I had no issues finding games or loading them; it seemed snappy and well thought out.

Slot Games

Tropicana Casino has a large slot catalog, beating or, at minimum, matching most competitors in New Jersey. The variety is nice, featuring Megaways, LuckyTap, Slingo, and more (many with their own categories for easy navigation).

The slot catalog is the true shining star of the online casino, as it features not only the largest count but also the most variety in theme and mechanics. In addition, many bonuses, including the welcome bonus, are tied to slots.

Table & Live Dealer Games

The table game section isn’t terrible, but it is vastly less impressive than the slot section. Even at first glance, it’s clear to see that the main focus here is blackjack and blackjack variants. Other classic table games, such as roulette, casino poker, and baccarat, can be found, but in my opinion, there is far less selection here than at many other online casinos.

Personally, I’m not a massive table game player, but I would appreciate seeing more variations of baccarat and roulette in particular, as these are some of the most popular big-name table games and variations of them that offer side bets and large win potential are always welcomed.

Live dealer games were more plentiful, offering a nice selection of traditional table games and gameshow-style games for players who enjoy the hybrid online/land-based experience. All of the typical live dealer games you’d expect to find at an online casino were available here.

Does Tropicana Casino Offer Games You Can’t Find Elsewhere?

It does, but they are not featured prominently. In fact, the only two I could find were the first two slots in the Featured category, Shamrock Fortunes and Flaming Reels. There is no exclusive category, which I feel is a miss, as I always appreciate being able to quickly and easily see what games may be on offer that I haven’t seen elsewhere.

I attempted to dig through the slots catalog manually, keeping an eye out for any game tiles that had exclusive sashes, but could not find any more beyond the two aforementioned slots. I also tried to search for exclusive, hoping that the search feature had some deeper functionality, but it did not give me any results.

Oddly enough, this search led me to another discovery instead – there are sorting features, but they did not pop up until I made an initial search. After doing so, the sorting appeared on all of the categories as I browsed around in that session. Once I reloaded the online casino, the sorting features disappeared again.

VIP & Loyalty Rewards: Is It Worth the Commitment?

Tropicana Casino ties into the expansive and impressive Caesars Rewards program, which is widely considered as one of the best in the gambling industry, whether it be casino or sportsbook, online or land-based.

How the Loyalty Program Works

Caesars Rewards is truly a program that needs no introduction to those with gambling experience, but I’ll break it down for those who don’t.

In my opinion, the beauty of Caesars Rewards is primarily due to the variety and depth of the program itself. The earning schedule is basic – by playing games, you earn:

• Reward Credits: These are essentially the program’s currency. They can be converted to bonus funds or used for a wide variety of other purposes. These include dining, shopping, in-person play, Caesars resort and hotel stays, and much more. • Tier Credits: Tier Credits are what move you up the ranks. At 0 Tier Credits, you start as a Gold member. My Experience with the VIP Perks

I’ve had a lot of experience with Caesars Rewards, and some of that experience has come from Tropicana Casino. The beauty of it all is that you’ll be able to stack benefits and credits no matter where you play, and they’re all together in one place. That alone has made my experience with Caesars Rewards seamless and enjoyable.

Beyond that, I haven’t really played enough to rack up a massive number of Reward Credits or Tier Credits, but I have been able to find benefits even at the Gold tier. For example, I find that even at the base level, my Caesars Rewards participation gets me comped rooms at most Caesars properties in Atlantic City Sunday through Thursday. I also simply enjoy getting more for my play, and I feel that’s exactly what I get from Caesars Rewards in general.

How the Tropicana Casino Rewards Compare to Other Casinos

In short, Caesars Rewards is considered one of the best available rewards programs for good reason. As I always do in my reviews, I like to include some information about other rewards programs to set a baseline of expectation. I usually like to do so by laying out how much you can earn from slot wagers. In the case of Caesars Rewards, you’ll earn 1 Tier Credit and one Reward Credit for every $10 wagered on all slots, and every 100 Reward Credits is worth $1 in Casino Bonus Cash. So, you’ll earn $1 in Casino Bonus Cash for every $1,000 wagered on all slots, which is an on-par earning schedule in comparison to other online casinos. For example, DraftKings Dynasty Rewards grants you $1 in Casino Credit/DK Dollars for every $1,100 wagered on slots.

The benefits of Caesars Rewards, aside from a fair earning schedule, come primarily in the form of all the other benefits you enjoy from the program. How I Handled Deposits & Withdrawals

Tropicana Online Casino offers a nice slate of deposit and withdrawal methods, all with fair timelines – in other words, not the best, but not the worst. Below, I’ll talk about my experience as well as the experiences of others I’ve come across. First, I’ll include a table of the available options for quick reference.

Deposit Options

As you can see from above, there’s a solid slate of convenient deposit options offered by Tropicana Casino. In my case, I used PayPal and came across no issues. I received my funds in my account instantly, and the process itself was seamless.

I will say that I’d recommend sticking to that or ACH/eCheck for the most convenient and quickest options, but if there’s another method on there that is convenient for you, all options are safe and secure.

Withdrawal Process

The withdrawal process is one of the sticking points for me in my review of Tropicana Casino. As you can see from the table above, the approximate withdrawal timelines are pretty lengthy, and in fact seem to be some of the slowest out of most online casinos.

I will say that, in my experience, my PayPal withdrawal came through in less than 24 hours, so I don’t think that these longer approximations are set in stone, and I’d recommend giving it a shot for yourself. All things considered, I don’t think that they are completely unreasonable even at the approximated timelines.

Payment Security & Regulations

Much like other licensed and regulated real money online casinos, Tropicana Casino uses TLS encryption for both payment security and general security of personal and financial information. This encryption method is the stronger successor to SSL encryption, and the same standard that online banks use. Beyond that, the payment providers themselves create an additional layer of security, so you truly have nothing to worry about here.

If that wasn’t enough, Tropicana Casino is licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement in NJ, and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in PA. These are two of the oldest, most established, and best examples of online gaming regulatory agencies in the market today.

My Experience with Customer Support

Tropicana Online Casino offers three primary methods for customer support – chat (available 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily), phone (available 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily), and email (obviously available at any time). There’s also a dedicated FAQ page for common questions, which I always appreciate. All in all, I like that there are three options here. I would like to see one option that’s 24/7 for quick support, however. I know that email can technically be used 24/7, but I wouldn’t expect a reply in the middle of the night (although I could be wrong).

In my case, I had an issue with my account being locked as I hadn’t used it in a long time. I chose to reach out via Live Chat, pictured above. My support agent hopped on immediately and understood my issue right away. While the support experience was quick and easy, my issue ended up having to be referred to upper management for a resolution.

I didn’t love this, as I feel like any customer support agent should be equipped with the capability to take care of an inactive account lock themselves. Instead, I was left with a promise to forward to upper management and a message stating that there’s no timeline for a response or resolution, but when it happens, it’ll come via email. This wasn’t great, as I was excited to hop onto Tropicana Online Casino to complete my testing and was instead left with uncertainty. However, like I said, it was great that I was able to quickly and easily reach a live agent to at least get the process started.

How Tropicana Online Casino Stacks Up Against Competitors

My Key Takeaways

My biggest positive takeaways were an extensive slots catalog, an easily navigable website and app, and Caesars Rewards integration. Some negative takeaways that took my experience down included smaller table games and live dealer catalogs, high playthrough requirements on bonuses, and a more ethereal feeling of a lack of excitement to really make it pop.

Who Should Play Here?

I think that Tropicana Casino is a serviceable choice for players of all levels and preferences, although I’d probably lean towards recommending it to players who also frequent Caesars’ land-based properties. This isn’t to say that it would be a bad choice if you don’t, I just believe that the land-based benefits and perks offered by the Caesars Rewards integration make it especially appealing for those hybrid players.

My Closing Thoughts

Overall, I think that Tropicana Casino has a lot of nice features that are slightly tarnished by some glaring but easily fixable issues. I think that the site and experience itself would be greatly improved by better bonus terms and conditions, more table games, and a slight modernization of features. I also wish that Caesars Rewards credits earned on Tropicana Casino didn’t have to be manually converted into your main Caesars Rewards account, as I feel that adds an extra unnecessary level of complexity here.

All in all, however, I do think it’s a nice option for players in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and I would absolutely keep it in the rotation.
