How DraftKings Pick6 Works
The board is laid out as a grid of player cards, sorted by sport and position. On an NFL slate I could filter to quarterbacks, receivers, running backs, or scroll a mixed board. Each card carries the athlete’s name, team, matchup, and one projected stat.
You tap More or Less on that projection. More is the dark button with an up arrow; Less is the light button with a down arrow. Two taps and the player is in your Pick Set.
From there, four rules govern every entry:
- Two to six athletes. Your Pick Set needs a minimum of two players and caps at six.
- Same sport, two or more games. All selections come from one sport, and they have to span at least two separate games. You cannot stack a full set from a single matchup.
- Pick Level matching. A four-pick set only competes against other four-pick sets. You are never scored against someone who took a different amount of risk.
- Entry fee splitting. Every $1 of your entry is allocated to a separate contest. A $10 entry places you in ten contests at once rather than one big one. This is the mechanism that stops high-volume players from farming casuals in a single pool.
The Pick Group is DraftKings’ term for the pool of athletes and projections available for a given slate. Projections lock as games start.
Scoring, In Practice
This is where Pick6 separates from PrizePicks and Underdog. On those apps, a 5-of-6 slip is a losing slip. On Pick6, a 5-of-6 set beats every 4-of-6 and 3-of-6 set in your contest and pays accordingly.
I ran a six-pick NFL set on a Sunday slate and finished 4-of-6 after a running back got scripted out of the second half. That set still cashed in seven of the ten contests my entry was split across, because the field average landed at three. Under a traditional pick’em model that entry is a total loss.
Voids and Minimum Play at Pick6

NFL
College Football
Posts alongside the NFL board during the season, weighted heavily toward Saturday slates. Stat categories mirror the NFL menu, though the card pool is narrower and concentrated on Power Four programs and ranked matchups. Worth noting that some jurisdictions restrict college contests even where Pick6 itself is licensed, so the CFB board may not appear for every eligible player.
NBA
The most consistent day-to-day board outside of football. Because the NBA plays most nights of the week, there is almost always a slate available during the season, which makes it the easiest league for spacing out Bonus Picks. Runs through its own season with a smaller but well-populated board. Stat categories follow the NBA structure, including combo lines and Double Double. MLB
Available throughout the regular season and into the postseason. The board splits between pitcher cards and hitter cards, and the two behave very differently. Pitcher markets are the more predictable side of the board because a starter’s workload is largely known in advance. Hitter cards carry more variance given the small sample of at-bats in a single game. Postseason slates are the trickiest for set-building, since the two-game minimum becomes a hard constraint once the field narrows to a handful of series, and impossible in a one-series round.
NHL
Posts on game nights through the season. Skater and goalie cards both appear, with shots, points, and saves anchoring the menu. Volume is lower than the NBA board, so on light schedule nights you may need to combine across the full slate to meet the two-game requirement.
UFC
Event-driven rather than daily. Cards typically post on Thursday ahead of a weekend event, which is the single most important timing quirk on the platform. If you wait until fight night to build a set, you have likely missed the window entirely. Markets center on significant strikes and takedowns. Because a full fight card has plenty of bouts, meeting the two-event minimum is straightforward.
NASCAR
The shortest window of any league. Race cards post the morning of the race and lock at green flag. Driver markets are built around finishing position and performance benchmarks. Field sizes are among the smallest on Pick6, so contests can be less crowded than an NFL Sunday, but you have to be watching for the board to appear.
PGA Tour
Split into two formats. Full Tournament cards post before the opening round and settle at the conclusion of play. Single Round cards post ahead of individual rounds and settle same-day.
