- Major Atlantic City operators, including Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and Caesars Entertainment’s three regional properties, have launched coordinated October campaigns to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
- The industry-wide philanthropic effort spans nearly the entire boardwalk, with venues like Ocean Casino Resort, Bally’s Atlantic City, Golden Nugget, and Resorts Casino Hotel contributing through specialty drink promotions, charity golf scrambles, event sponsorships, and property-wide pink lighting displays.
Atlantic City’s casino industry is using October promotions, events and property-wide displays to raise money for breast cancer research, awareness and treatment, with Hard Rock and Caesars Entertainment properties among the participants.
The effort spans most of the market’s major operators and includes fundraising walks, golf events, themed drinks, merchandise sales, employee screenings and pink lighting displays. For casino operators, it is a broad, coordinated community-facing campaign tied largely to American Cancer Society initiatives during Breast Cancer Awareness Month—running parallel to how broader gaming corporations balance physical hospitality campaigns alongside localized community engagement and digital product offerings like online casino compliance initiatives and charitable partnerships..
Hard Rock and Caesars properties outline October campaigns
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City is running its annual PINKTOBER campaign, according to the Press of Atlantic City. The property’s plans include pink décor, specialty desserts, limited-edition merchandise and pink lighting on parts of the resort. Hard Rock is also set to serve as the presenting stage sponsor for the Atlantic-Cape Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 11.
Caesars Entertainment’s three Atlantic City casinos — Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City and Tropicana Atlantic City — are also holding breast cancer-related events this month. Caesars and Tropicana will glow pink on the skyline, while Harrah’s will illuminate its Waterfront Walkway.
The three Caesars-owned properties will serve as pink chair sponsors of the Oct. 11 fundraising walk in Ocean City. They are also scheduled to host the second annual Swing for a Cause Charity Golf Scramble on Oct. 20 at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Galloway Township.
Caesars Entertainment said mobile mammography screenings will be available to its Atlantic City employees. The company’s local leaders are also participating in the American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign.
Other Atlantic City operators add drinks, donations and pink lighting
The Press of Atlantic City reported that Ocean Casino Resort will offer a White Peach Paloma at several bars and restaurants in October, with $2 from each drink going to the American Cancer Society. Ocean’s exterior sign will also be lit pink for the month.
At Bally’s Atlantic City, Pacific Avenue entrances and Phil’s Carousel Bar will be illuminated pink. Team members can buy pins and paper tributes, guests can donate slot vouchers, and $1 from each specialty cocktail sold at Phil’s Carousel Bar in October will support breast cancer awareness efforts.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa will illuminate its towers in pink throughout October. Golden Nugget Atlantic City said its Men of Golden Nugget group is raising money through a Pink Drink promotion, with $2 from each featured cocktail going to Men Wear Pink.
At Resorts Casino Hotel, vice president of administration Kevin Duffey is raising money for the Men Wear Pink of Greater Philadelphia campaign. Guests and employees can donate through his campaign page or purchase an $11 Perfect Pink Cosmo at the Boo Bar, with proceeds benefiting the cause. Resorts has also wrapped slot voucher collection boxes in pink and plans to illuminate the property in pink during October.
Last year’s Caesars fundraising sets a benchmark
The Press of Atlantic City said Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana were recognized last year as the top three fundraising teams in the Greater Philadelphia area for Men Wear Pink. Tropicana ranked No. 1 regionally and No. 10 nationally, and the three properties raised more than $129,000 for breast cancer awareness.
The source did not say how much participating casinos expect to raise this year or provide a combined fundraising goal for all Atlantic City properties involved.
