Bally’s Corporation has completed its acquisition of Sam’s Town Shreveport from Boyd Gaming in a $30 million deal approved by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, with a rebrand expected in the near future.
The transaction gives Bally’s a larger footprint in Louisiana and transfers control of a longstanding regional casino property that Boyd had owned since 2004. The property briefly closed during the handover, shutting down at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, before reopening at noon on Saturday, August 1 under Bally’s ownership.
Bally’s closes the deal and signals a rebrand
Bally’s said the closing marks another step in its push into what it called key regional markets. Chairman Soo Kim said Louisiana is an important market for the company and thanked both Boyd Gaming and state regulators for completing the transaction.
“Today’s closing marks an important milestone for Bally’s as we continue to expand our presence in key regional markets and invest in destinations with strong long-term potential,” Kim said in a statement carried by KTAL.
The company has not announced a new name for the property or provided a timeline for the rebrand beyond saying it will happen in the near future.
That leaves several practical questions unanswered, including whether Bally’s plans renovations or broader changes beyond branding. No specific development projects tied to the casino were announced alongside the closing.
50 Cent welcomes expansion, but no projects have been confirmed
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson publicly welcomed Bally’s expansion into Shreveport and said he sees room for future collaboration tied to entertainment, dining and retail.
“I’m excited for Bally’s expansion in Shreveport as we continue investing in the city’s future,” Jackson said. “Together, we have an opportunity to create new entertainment, dining and retail experiences that attract visitors, support local businesses and contribute to Shreveport’s continued growth.”
Still, neither Bally’s nor Jackson announced a specific role for the rapper and entrepreneur at the casino itself.
Jackson’s comments come months after he and Robert Earl announced a partnership to launch PH Live, an entertainment venue at Planet Hollywood Times Square. According to AKR PR, that concept is expected to expand into additional markets, including Shreveport, though no Bally’s-linked PH Live project has been confirmed.
For now, the clearest next step is Bally’s rebranding of the former Sam’s Town Shreveport property as the company settles into ownership of one of northwest Louisiana’s casino assets.
