FanDuel Casino was the exclusive first home of Light & Wonder’s hotly-anticipated sequel Huff N’Even More Puff in January, but it has already removed the game. A representative for the casino confirmed the decision, but provided only a vague rationale for it. However, the move comes immediately after a user on Twitter reported that certain bonuses were not paying out as much as they should have, according to the game’s rules.
A FanDuel representative told a reporter affiliated with Bonus:
Due to some recent concerns raised, we’ve decided to temporarily take Huff N’Even More Puff down while we conduct a review. We’ll share an update on the availability of the game once our review is complete.
The game is the sequel to Light & Wonder’s highly popular Huff N’ Puff, a slot based on the classic story of the Three Little Pigs. Its US launch came on February 4 and FanDuel enjoyed the time-limited exclusive rights to host it.
On May 6, a FanDuel player on X responded to a February post announcing the game’s launch to say he believed the game had a bug with its payouts:
Think the new huff and even more puff has a bug. Look at the payouts for the houses they are all below the minimum in the rules. This is on the main page promo video.
The alleged bug concerns the House symbols that appear in the game’s bonus rounds. At the end of the feature, these are “blown away” by the Big Bad Wolf to reveal prizes. The user shared screenshots showing revealed prizes that were in some cases lower than the minimum indicated in the rules for the corresponding symbol. Another user replied to say he had also observed the same thing.
Dragon Train Yet to Reappear
At the moment, FanDuel says the removal of Huff N’Even More Puff is temporary, pending an investigation. However, if the removal turns out to be related to the bug, and the investigation confirms it, it will be more bad news for Light & Wonder and its fans.
The company has already had to pull one of its flagship products in the past year. Dragon Train Chi Lin Wins disappeared from US online and retail casinos last fall after Light & Wonder’s competitor Aristocrat Gaming won a preliminary injunction in an intellectual property lawsuit. Aristocrat had produced compelling evidence that its former game mathematician Emma Charles had stolen spreadsheets containing proprietary math for its similar game Dragon Link, and used them in her work on Dragon Train. Charles was dismissed from her position shortly thereafter.
Light & Wonder promised investors that the game would reappear with similar gameplay but new, compliant math. It also assured them that revenue from Huff N’Even More Puff would help ease any short-term pain from the removal of Dragon Train. However, “Dragon Train 2.0” has not yet manifested itself, and now Huff N’Even More Puff is at least temporarily off the market as well.
