Where To Play Free Blackjack For Cash Prizes

Players in almost all other states can win cash prizes and more playing blackjack at social and sweepstakes casinos. These sites use a dual token system for use in a variety of blackjack games. Gold coins are used for fun and to practice the games. Purchases of Gold Coins may come with Sweeps Coins. Play with Sweeps Coins via promotional sweepstakes. If you win with Sweeps Coins, you can redeem for cash prizes and more. Winning Sweeps Coins can usually be redeemed 1 for 1 for cash prizes, depending on the site.

What Are Social Casinos?

Social casinos are available in almost all states. The reason they can be legal even in states where real-money online casinos are not is that you can play on these sites completely free.

Social casinos offer two different casino-style modes of play. In Standard Play, you play with site tokens, usually called Gold Coins (GC), that are not redeemable for anything. In Promotional Play mode, you play with a different kind of token, usually called Sweeps Coins (SC). You play with Sweeps Coins via promotional sweepstakes. If you win with Sweeps Coins, you can redeem for cash prizes and gift cards, usually at an exchange rate of 1 to 1, depending on the site.

You can get both Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins in many ways. First, you get free coins just for creating an account. Also, most sites will give you a bonus of a certain number of coins for logging in every day. Finally, you can purchase Gold Coins, and when you do, you usually get additional Sweeps Coins for free.

Chumba Casino and Global Poker are two social casinos that offer blackjack. So, you can play for free but potentially redeem your winnings for cash prizes and more.

How To Play Blackjack For Free Online

One of the most useful reasons to play blackjack for free is to try out the different variations of the game. You’ll see firsthand how a small difference in the rules, such as “dealer stands on soft 17” versus “dealer hits on soft 17,” can affect how often you win.

The good news is that you have access to Blackjack Xchange and all different types of online blackjack for free. When you enter a brick-and-mortar casino, you typically only have a couple of options to choose from. Usually, the better the rules for the player, the higher the table minimum.

The same is true for online blackjack, except you’ll have many more options. Plus, the table minimums don’t matter if you’re playing free online blackjack.

To see the rules of the online blackjack you’re playing, click the little “i” icon. It will be located along the bottom of the game or on the top left side of the table, next to the table minimums. The “i” stands for info, and it will display a breakdown of each rule.

The best blackjack rules are numerous, but some of the best include:

  • Blackjack pays 2:1 or 3:2
  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Single-deck blackjack
  • Double down allowed anytime
  • Double after split allowed

The more of those player-friendly rules that you see, the better the game’s payback percentage.

Blackjack Rules

The object of blackjack is to come closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Face cards are worth 10, aces are worth 1 or 11, and everything else is face value. For example, a two-card hand with a 9 and a Queen is worth 19 points. (Here’s more on the best and worst blackjack hands.)

The game begins with you receiving two face-up cards and the dealer receiving one face-up card and one facedown card. If the dealer gets a two-card hand worth 21 points, the game ends there, and all players lose except for those who also have a two-card hand worth 21 points.

However, if the dealer has any other hand value, the game continues on, with the dealer keeping one of their two cards hidden. Players can now make one of a few decisions:

  • Hit: Receive an additional card to add value to your hand.
  • Stand: Do not receive an additional card, locking in your current hand value.
  • Double Down: Double your wager and receive one additional card.
  • Split: If dealt a pair, you can split them into two separate hands. Each hand will then receive another card, and you can hit, stand, double down, or split again on each hand individually.
  • Surrender: Some blackjack variations allow you to “surrender” your hand early to forfeit part of your wager and keep the rest. This is usually done by players with a weak hand against a strong dealer up-card.

If you and the dealer tie, that’s known as a “push” and you receive your bet back. If the dealer beats you, the wager is lost. If you beat the dealer, you double your wager – unless you get a two-card hand worth 21 points. That’s known as a “blackjack” and pays out 2:1, 3:2, or 6:5 depending on the version of blackjack you’re playing.

Blackjack Odds

Blackjack offers some of the best odds at the casino. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing at an online casino or a brick-and-mortar casino, blackjack is one of those games that gives you the best chance of keeping more of your money.

For example, the following are bad blackjack rules but still offer a 98% return to player (RTP) percentage. Put another way, the house edge over the player is 2% with these rules:

  • Blackjack pays 6:5
  • Dealer hits on soft 17
  • 8 decks used
  • No resplitting aces or hitting split aces
  • No surrender allowed

However, if with these more player-friendly rules, blackjack boasts an incredible 99.55% RTP, which is pretty much unbeatable at the casino:

  • Blackjack pays 3:2
  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • 8 decks used (same as above)
  • No resplitting aces or hitting split aces (same as above)
  • No surrender allowed (same as above)

In fact, if you kept those rules but made it single-deck blackjack instead of eight-deck blackjack, the odds would be in the player’s favor, which no casino would ever allow.

How To Play Blackjack At Casinos

You can play blackjack at every brick-and-mortar casino that has table and card games. Some casinos in the US only offer real money slots online, but the vast majority offer blackjack, roulette, and other table and card games.

Blackjack is by far the most popular table game, making up about a third of all casino table gaming. But roulette and casino online poker are also highly popular, collectively making up about half of casino table gaming. All other table games, like craps and online baccarat, make up the remaining roughly 15% to 20% of casino table gaming.

Every casino on the Las Vegas Strip and Atlantic City Boardwalk offer blackjack, and most have a handful of different types. Oklahoma and Colorado are two states that boast a huge number of casinos, and California is filled with “card rooms,” which house blackjack, poker, and other casino card games.

Basically, the vast majority of the US population is within an hour or two drive to a blackjack table.
