There’s no question that “The Gorilla”, Jesse Lonis, is one of the best breakout poker players over the last few years. It was only a few years ago that Lonis was working construction in Upstate New York and, last week, he celebrated his third WSOP bracelet.

Lonis captured his newest piece of hardware by winning a $1,000 WSOP Online Mystery Bounty event, topping the 371-entry field to win a total of $59,578.52. Not only did Lonis win the tournament, but he also pocketed the second-largest bounty in the field, a $14,000 bounty, and nearly $26,000 in bounties altogether.

According to an exchange on Twitter, Lonis had attended the football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders that Sunday. After getting home, he fired a single late bullet, the only online poker tournament he played that day, and ran pure to get the victory.

In modern fashion, he did so from the comfort of his phone, sharing a screenshot at 3:08 am showing his win over “kazuomatsui”, who had reached his second online WSOP final table of the series.

This was Lonis’ second online bracelet, having won a $1,000 6-Max event in 2022. His live bracelet, which he says completely changed the course of his life, came in the 2023 $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller, where he won a staggering $2,350,017.
