Sometimes, it’s just your time. For Austrian poker pro Jonas Kronwitter, the PGT PLO Series was one of the best weeks of his life.

Kronwitter, a Pot-Limit Omaha specialist, made the money in five of the eight PokerGO Tour events. He also won two titles and had a second-place finish, earning $576,088 in cashes to secure the title of PGT PLO Series champion.

As champion, he was awarded a $10,000 PGT Passport, redeemable for future entries on the PokerGO Tour.

Curiously, Kronwitter had not logged a single cash on the PokerGO Tour before the series. After earning 598 PGT points, the Austrian has moved all the way up to 70th place and now has a great chance to qualify for the 2026 PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll.

Starting Off Hot

Kronwitter kicked off the PGT PLO Series with a runner-up finish to Sam Soverel in the 93-entry $5,300 Event #1, the first of two $5,300 tournaments. Soverel won the $122,850 top prize while Kronwitter had to settle for $79,625.

Soverel won the event after both players got all-in on a T♥️7♥️3♣️ flop.

Soverel: A♦️A♣️5♦️2♣️

Kronwitter had a 63% chance to win, but a 5♠️7♣️ runout gave Soverel a PGT record-extending 16th win. Soverel would also claim his 17th title in the 46-entry $15,700 Mystery Bounty Event #6, earning a total of $160,000 plus $90,000 in bounties.

Kronwitter would then follow that up with a pair of ninth-place finishes in the $5,300 Event #2 for $15,900 and in the $10,400 Quattro Bounty Event #4 for $11,400.

Two Wins in Three Days

Kronwitter had never won a PGT event in his career, but he finally got over the line in the fifth event of the series, which was a $10,500 buy-in event with 63 entries.

Kronwitter came in as the final day chip leader with five left and cruised to victory, knocking out the last three players himself. In the final hand against Richard Gryko, the two players got all in on the J♦️8♥️5♥️ flop with top two pair.

Kronwitter made a flush on the A♥️ turn and dodged a chop on the 2♦️ river to secure the $201,600 top prize and his first PGT title.

After Soverel’s Mystery Bounty victory the following day, Kronwitter found himself in second place in the overall leaderboard standings, needing at least one cash to overtake Soverel.

The Austrian got more than just a solitary cash. He ended up winning the very next day, topping the 65-entry field in the $15,700 event for $267,563 after beating Joni Jouhkimainen in heads-up play. The two players agreed to an ICM deal with Kronwitter holding more than a 3-to-1 chip lead.

Holding a 222-point lead over Soverel heading into the final $26,000 event, Kronwitter was guaranteed to be crowned the PLO Series champion, as long as Soverel didn’t win outright. Soverel failed to cash in the 48-entry field, and the Austrian could celebrate with a third trophy and a $10,000 PGT Passport.
