In a press release on its website, Kalshi announced a partnership with Signify Group to protect athletes from online abuse and threats that stem from failed contracts on its platform.

Signify is recognized as a global leader in online safety and threat investigations, and Kalshi touts the partnership as a significant step forward in proactively protecting athletes.

Speaking on the partnership, Robert DeNault, Head of Enforcement for Kalshi, says that the prediction platform is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to the safety of players on the field:

“Athletes and coaches should be able to compete without facing abuse or threats simply because someone has a financial interest in the outcome of a sporting event. But actions speak louder than words, and this partnership between Kalshi and Signify gives us another important tool to identify unacceptable behavior and take action against those responsible.

We will use this tool alongside a new exchange rule that explicitly prohibits abuse or threats in connection with trading activity because we want to make clear that there are real consequences for anyone who crosses the line.”

Signify Group will monitor socials with AI tool

Signify Group’s Threat Matrix is the main feature that is powering the partnership, a proprietary tool that can detect harmful content across 32 categories of abuse and threats. Threat Matrix also has translation capabilities in over 100 languages.

The tool is buoyed by human analysts who evaluate each report triggered by the AI tool and then conduct threat assessments in real time to determine the level of risk and severity.

When online behaviors rise to an actionable level, Signify Group’s team of analysts will collect evidence to share with the respective sports organization and potentially law enforcement.

CEO of Signify Group, Jonathan Hirshler, cited the importance of protecting athletes amid a growing market in the prediction industry:

“As prediction markets continue to grow, it is important that athletes and coaches are protected from abuse and threats, including behavior that may be linked to a person’s financial interest in a sporting outcome. Kalshi has rightly chosen to confront that directly.

Anyone who thinks a losing position entitles them to threaten or abuse an athlete should know that they can be identified, that their account can be closed, and that serious cases can have consequences beyond the platform.”
