Bonus TL;DR

  • Kalshi traders priced in an 82% chance that new Apple CEO John Ternus will discuss a foldable device.
  • Apple Intelligence and Siri ranked high among event themes at 77% and 56% probability, respectively.

Kalshi traders ahead of Apple’s Sept. 9 keynote are pricing in a strong chance that new CEO John Ternus will talk about a foldable iPhone, Apple Intelligence and Siri during his first major iPhone launch as chief executive.

The market matters because it offers a real-money read on what prediction traders think Apple will emphasize when the “Surprise and Shine” event begins at 1 p.m. ET. According to the source report, more than $26,000 has traded across 26 contracts tied to words, products, and themes that may come up during the presentation.

Foldable iPhone language leads the market

The highest-probability contract is for “fold,” “folding,” or “foldable,” at 82%. That puts foldable-device language well ahead of most other themes traders are tracking.

The source report also cited Bloomberg as saying Apple’s foldable device will be called the iPhone Duo, with a starting price of roughly $2,000 and higher-storage models potentially reaching $3,000. Another contract, “Ultra,” fell 55 points to 32% after that report.

Beyond hardware naming, traders also assigned a 20% chance to Ternus using “afford” or “affordable,” while “Samsung” sat at 10%.

That setup suggests prediction traders expect Apple to spend more time on its own new device category than on direct comparisons with competitors.

Apple Intelligence and Siri also rank high

The next-most likely themes are Apple Intelligence at 77% and Siri at 56%.

By contrast, references to outside AI brands were trading much lower. “OpenAI” or “ChatGPT” stood at 25%, while “Google” or “Gemini” was at 15%. The source report noted that Reuters has reported Google’s AI technology will help power Apple’s revamped Siri, but the market still implied traders do not expect those partners to dominate the keynote.

Other contracts were priced lower, including Dynamic Island at 22%, AirPods Pro at 18%, AirTag at 15%, Apple Watch SE at 8% and Tariff at 7%.

Apple Watch health terms show mixed expectations

Apple Watch-related contracts showed a more mixed picture. “Health” or “fitness” had fallen 17 points to 39%, while “heart rate” jumped 18 points to 39%.

The source report cited Bloomberg as saying Apple plans a new Readiness app using data that includes heart rate and blood-oxygen levels, alongside broader health upgrades.

For market watchers, the keynote is also notable because it is Apple’s first major iPhone unveiling under a chief executive other than Tim Cook since Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone 4 in 2010.

Historical stock data cited in the report showed Apple shares have averaged a 0.3% decline on launch day across 24 iPhone launches tracked since 2007, followed by an average 0.5% gain in the next session. The more immediate event to watch, though, is whether Ternus’ keynote language matches what Kalshi traders have priced in.
