Bonus TL;DR

  • Louisiana’s gaming revenue dropped 6.4% year-over-year to $201 million in August 2026, with most regional casino markets reporting declines.
  • Sports betting performance also softened statewide, generating $34 million in revenue from a $272 million handle, both down 2%.

Louisiana’s gaming revenue totaled $201 million in August, down 6.4% from a year earlier, according to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

The decline covered most of the state’s online casino markets, while sports betting also softened. Sports betting revenue came in at $34 million from a $272 million handle, with both figures down 2% year over year.

Most Louisiana casino districts posted declines

The biggest market by revenue, Lake Charles, generated $73.2 million, down 8.8%. Within that district, L’Auberge Du Lac reported $28.7 million, down 4.5%; Golden Nugget Lake Charles posted $23.6 million, down 12.9%; and Delta Downs brought in $14 million, down 9.8%.

The New Orleans District reported $50.9 million, a 5.2% decline. Caesars New Orleans recorded $24 million, down 6.9%; Treasure Chest posted $13.8 million, down 1.5%; and Boomtown Casino & Hotel generated $7 million, down 13%.

In Shreveport/Bossier City, revenue fell 8.3% to $47.1 million. Margaritaville Resort Casino reported $12.1 million, down 3.7%; Live! Casino posted $10.5 million, down 1.1%; and Horseshoe Shreveport brought in $10.1 million, down 14.1%.

Baton Rouge was the lone bright spot

The Baton Rouge District was the only one listed with year-over-year growth, rising 3.2% to $23.3 million.

That gain was driven in part by Bally’s Baton Rouge, which reported $5.3 million in revenue, up 661.1% after moving to a land-based facility. Elsewhere in the district, L’Auberge Baton Rouge posted $11.8 million, down 12.9%, and Queen of Baton Rouge generated $6.2 million, down 25.7%.

Outside those major districts, Evangeline Downs reported $6.3 million, down 4.9% year over year.

For Louisiana’s gambling market, the August figures show weakness across both casino revenue and sports betting, with Baton Rouge standing out as the exception rather than the rule. The state’s district-level results also suggest that Bally’s Baton Rouge’s venue transition produced one of the month’s sharpest operator-level swings, even as statewide revenue moved lower.
