Michigan Regulators Issue Cease-and-Desist Orders to Eight Unlicensed Gambling Sites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken a firm stance against illegal online gambling, issuing cease-and-desist orders to eight unlicensed internet gaming operators. The move, announced Thursday, is part of a broader effort to protect Michigan residents from unregulated gambling activities and ensure compliance with state law.

MGCB Takes Action Against Unlicensed Operators

The MGCB’s action was aimed at companies found to be offering “casino-style games or interactive wagering without state-required licensing.” The eight operators receiving the orders were identified as Bspin, Everygame, Everygame Sports, Kudos, PlayCroco, Slots of Vegas, Spin Dimension, and Super Slots. The MGCB directed them to “immediately halt” all operations in the state of Michigan.

In an official statement, MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams stressed the dangers of these sites to consumers.

“These unlawful operators try to present themselves as legitimate entertainment options, but they offer zero player protections, no accountability and a real risk to consumers,” Williams said. He emphasized that the MGCB’s mission is to “protect players, ensure fair play and safeguard personal and financial information.”

Escalated Consequences for Non-Compliance

The cease-and-desist orders carry significant legal weight. According to the MGCB, failure to comply could result in more severe legal and financial consequences.

The agency is prepared to work directly with the Michigan Department of Attorney General to pursue further enforcement actions. Under the state’s gaming control and penal codes, individuals and entities found operating illegal gambling businesses could be subject to felony charges, punishable by substantial fines and even imprisonment.

The MGCB’s firm stance signals that these orders are not merely a suggestion, but a serious directive with a clear path to legal escalation if ignored.

The Importance of Regulation for Player Safety

The MGCB’s enforcement action highlights the critical difference between licensed and unlicensed online gaming environments. In Michigan, all licensed online casinos must adhere to strict regulations designed to protect players, including responsible gaming measures, fair game audits, and secure financial transactions.

These protections are non-existent on unlicensed sites, leaving players vulnerable to scams and security breaches. The public is urged to verify a site’s licensing status through the MGCB’s official website to ensure their personal and financial information is safe.

The MGCB warned that failure to comply with the cease-and-desist orders could result in further legal action in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
