Bonus TL;DR

  • New York’s mobile sports betting handle dropped 15% to $1.7 billion in August, while revenue fell 6% to $168 million.
  • Despite the broader market decline, Fanatics grew 17% year-over-year, reaching a double-digit market share (11%) for the first time.

New York mobile sports betting revenue fell to $168 million in August 2026, down 6% from a year earlier, while handle dropped 15% to $1.7 billion.

The monthly results matter because New York remains one of the biggest U.S. sports betting markets, and shifts in revenue, handle, and operator share are closely watched across the industry—especially as lawmakers continue to weigh the potential addition of online casino gaming to the state’s legal framework.. August also brought a notable market-share milestone for Fanatics, which was the only top-five operator to post year-over-year revenue growth.

FanDuel and DraftKings still lead New York market

FanDuel remained the market leader in August with $64 million in revenue, good for a 38% market share. Even so, its revenue was down 4% from the same month last year.

DraftKings stayed in second place with $56 million in revenue and a 33% market share. Its August revenue was down 10% year over year.

Together, FanDuel and DraftKings continued to control the bulk of New York’s mobile sports betting market, accounting for more than two-thirds of revenue based on the reported shares.

Fanatics Reaches Double-digit Market Share

Fanatics reported $19 million in August revenue, giving it an 11% market share in New York. That was up 17% from a year earlier.

According to the source report, Fanatics reached a double-digit market share in New York for the first time in August. It was also the only operator among the top five to post annual revenue growth.

The source did not detail the performance of the other top-five operators or explain what drove the overall year-over-year declines in New York revenue and handle.

August data signals softer year-over-year performance

The August figures showed a weaker month for New York mobile sports betting compared with the same period in 2025, both in total wagers and operator revenue.

The reported $1.7 billion handle and $168 million in revenue suggest that, while the market remains massive by U.S. standards, growth was not broad-based in August. For now, the clearest competitive shift in the monthly data was Fanatics continuing to gain ground while the top two operators both posted annual declines.

Poker Industry PRO reported the figures on Sept. 21, citing New York’s August market results.
