Bonus TL;DR

  • Retail brokerage Public launched automated prediction market trading, partnering with Kalshi to let eligible users trade event contracts directly.
  • Users can deploy AI agents to monitor market probabilities and automatically execute trades across their portfolios when conditions are met.

Public launched AI agents for prediction markets on Sept. 24, partnering with Kalshi to let eligible users trade event contracts directly or automate those trades through its platform.

The launch brings CFTC-regulated event contracts into Public’s brokerage app with new AI tools layered on top. For users who qualify, it adds another way to trade on outcomes tied to economic data, company events, elections, and other real-world developments, while also underscoring that the products carry significant risk.

Public adds automated trading tools for event contracts

According to Public, members can either place prediction market trades themselves or have AI agents act on their behalf. The company said the agents can monitor changing market probabilities and execute strategies tied to those moves.

Public also said users can treat prediction market data as a signal for trades elsewhere in a portfolio. Among the examples it gave: buying a healthcare stock if FDA approval odds move above 75%, or buying put options if the probability of an earnings miss rises above 60%, with an example cap of $2,500 per position.

The platform’s prediction market offering includes an event contracts hub, daily AI market briefings, contextual discovery on asset pages, and planned watchlist integration. Public said the markets are available 24/7, including weekends and holidays, and that developers can access them through an open API and Python SDK with read and write functionality.

Public co-CEO and co-founder Leif Abraham said, “Prediction markets give those agents a new input: real-world events.”

Kalshi handles the prediction markets as Public expands access

Public said it partnered with Kalshi to offer the markets and execute trades for members. The company described Kalshi as a CFTC-regulated exchange and said event contracts are offered by Open to the Public Investing, Inc. and Apex Clearing Corporation, both registered futures commission merchants.

At launch, Public said tradeable events include Fed rate decisions, CPI and inflation releases, GDP, unemployment, earnings results, delivery targets, revenue milestones, regulatory approvals, legislative actions, elections, and price levels for crypto, oil, and precious metals.

The product is available to eligible Public members. Public said users must be at least 18, have a valid Social Security number, a legal permanent U.S. residential address, and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or valid visa holder.

The company’s disclosures also say event contract trading involves significant risk and is not appropriate for everyone. Public further disclosed that event contract accounts are not protected by SIPC.
