Hard Rock Bet Casino now has live trivia, and you can win prizes playing. Starting next week, it’ll become the first New Jersey casino operator to take advantage of the live-streaming game show from Playtech.
Online casino games can be—let’s face it—pretty mindless, and that’s kind of the point. They’re a way to shut off for a little bit and just watch stuff happen. But in this case, you’re going to want to dust off those neurons and make sure they’re firing, because speed and accuracy are going to be important.
Hard Rock Trivia nights will take place every Wednesday, starting May 7, and running for at least a month. Right now, they’re saying the promotion will continue through June, but if it proves popular, you might expect them to bring it back.
The games will be free to play and award prizes to those who play. They haven’t said exactly what those prizes will be, but Playtech mentions free spins and Golden Chips as options for online casinos hosting its trivia show.
So, keep your Wednesday nights free and skip the pub trivia for a while.
Hard Rock’s ramping up its online casino efforts
If you don’t live in New Jersey, you’re unfortunately out of luck when it comes to casino trivia for now. Although free trivia shows are a feature of many international online casinos, this is the first experiment of its kind in the US. And Hard Rock doesn’t have an online casino in any other states quite yet. They’ve got a sportsbook in five states, but the other four (Arizona, Florida, Illinois, and Tennessee) don’t allow online casinos at the moment.
From the looks of things, though, that may not be the case for long. They’ve had an online casino site in New Jersey since 2018, but were treating it like an afterthought until they relaunched with a new platform in 2023.
In the past year, there have been a number of signs that Hard Rock’s getting serious about iGaming. For one thing, they’ve got a new ambassador, Dale Earnhardt Jr. For another, they’ve begun investing in bespoke exclusive content, a strategy we’ve mostly seen with more prominent brands like Caesars Palace.
These exclusive games aren’t just a popular slot with a few modified symbols, either. The latest, Hard Rock Highway Megaways, is actually pretty slick. The gameplay is straightforward but the art is high-quality an memorable, featuring neon signs and a 50’s diner-and-motorcycle theme.
Between those additions and the trivia, it’s clear Hard Rock wants to be a bigger name in the online casino space and is willing to take some chances to get there. No one else has tried the free trivia games yet, but if it works out for them, we could see that become a trend.
