BetMGM and MGM Resorts just extended their partnership with Major League Baseball, and most of the headlines focused on the sportsbook side. But for online casino players, the more interesting news is buried deeper in the announcement—and it says a lot about where BetMGM is putting its chips.

What Was Actually Announced

On June 23, MGM Resorts International and BetMGM announced the renewal of their multi-year partnerships with MLB, extending a relationship that dates back to 2018, when they became the league’s first Official Gaming and Sports Betting Partners.

Under the renewed agreements:

  • BetMGM continues marketing its brand across MLB Network, MLB.com, and the league’s digital portfolio, reaching fans in the U.S. and Canada
  • BetMGM maintains sponsorship integration within MLB content on Apple TV
  • MGM Resorts continues as MLB’s exclusive Integrated Resort & Casino Partner, expanding MLB Awards Week in Las Vegas and other marquee events
  • Both companies will continue developing co-branded MLB-themed casino games on the BetMGM Casino platform

That last point is the one casino players should pay attention to.

New MLB-Branded Casino Games Are Coming

BetMGM and MLB are actively building exclusive, co-branded casino titles to be delivered through BetMGM Casino. No specific release dates or game titles have been announced yet, but this isn’t a vague future promise—it’s a continuation of existing development work, meaning these games are already in the pipeline.

For players, that means more exclusive content that you can’t find anywhere else. BetMGM’s iGaming platform already leans heavily on exclusive titles as a differentiator. Earlier this year, it signed a deal with Games Global to exclusively launch the Gold Blitz franchise in the U.S. MLB-branded slots and casino content are a natural extension of that strategy, bringing sports fans into the casino lobby in a way that feels native to baseball season.

Why BetMGM Needed This Win

Greenblatt specifically cited prediction market operators as a source of competitive pressure during BetMGM’s Q1 earnings discussion. According to management, these platforms are competing for sports betting-related advertising channels and increasing customer acquisition costs across the industry. BetMGM has responded by focusing more heavily on higher-value customers and emphasizing areas where management believes the company has competitive advantages, including iGaming.

The numbers tell the story: BetMGM‘s online sports betting revenue for Q1 was $203 million. During the same period, one analyst firm estimated that Kalshi alone generated roughly $300 million in revenue from sports event contracts. BetMGM is the largest licensed U.S. sportsbook that does not offer a prediction market product, and it has explicitly said it won’t be changing course on that.

So where is BetMGM doubling down instead? Online casino. Its iGaming segment was the standout in Q1, posting $481 million in revenue—up 9% year-over-year—and holding approximately 21% U.S. market share. Greenblatt put it plainly on the call: as an iGaming-first operator approaching $2 billion in annual iGaming revenue, BetMGM believes it is better positioned than most to weather the prediction market noise.

The MLB deal fits squarely into that strategy. Major League Baseball’s long season, massive fan base, and strong digital reach give BetMGM a high-profile platform to drive casino awareness—not just sportsbook sign-ups.

What This Means If You’re a BetMGM Casino Player

A few practical takeaways:

More exclusive content is on the way

Between the Games Global partnership and the MLB casino game development, BetMGM is actively building a library of titles players can’t access anywhere else. If you’re a slots player, that matters.

The platform is investing, not retreating

Recent announcements indicate that BetMGM remains focused on growing its iGaming business. In addition to maintaining MLB-related casino content within the renewed partnership, the company has repeatedly highlighted iGaming as a strategic priority and one of its strongest-performing business segments.

The sportsbook and casino are increasingly connected

MLB-themed casino games aren’t just a novelty. They’re a cross-sell tool designed to keep baseball fans on the platform year-round, through a product (online casino) that doesn’t depend on sports results or prediction market competition.

Responsible gambling remains part of the deal

The partnership renewed its commitment to GameSense, the player protection program developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and integrated across MGM properties and BetMGM’s digital platform. BetMGM’s anti-athlete harassment policy is also continuing under the renewed terms for responsible gambling.

The Bigger Picture

This renewal is a reminder that the biggest names in online casino aren’t just passive recipients of sports betting traffic. They’re actively using sports partnerships to build brand awareness, drive loyalty, and create content that keeps players engaged across both products.

For BetMGM, the renewal reinforces a partnership that has been in place since 2018 and supports the company’s broader goals across both sportsbook and iGaming. While the long-term business impact remains to be seen, the agreement ensures continued marketing exposure across MLB platforms and maintains the development of MLB-themed casino content for BetMGM players

BetMGM’s current welcome offer is a 100% deposit match up to $2,500 plus 100 bonus spins, available to new players in NJ, PA, MI, and WV.
