  • DraftKings launched a nationwide ad campaign featuring Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas to promote its unified, 50-state accessible app.
  • The unified app routes users to traditional sports betting or CFTC-regulated prediction markets depending on state legality.

DraftKings launched a new national ad campaign on Aug. 31 to promote its unified app, using Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas to pitch a product the company says is now available in all 50 states.

The campaign matters because it shows how a major U.S. operator is changing its marketing as state-by-state sports betting access remains uneven and prediction markets become a larger part of the competitive picture ahead of the NFL season. According to Sports Business Journal, the app offers traditional sportsbook betting in states where online sports betting is legal and defaults to federally regulated prediction markets in states where it is not.

The first commercial features Hart and Jonas in a 1970 Chevelle and carries the tagline “Take Your Game Anywhere.” Brooklyn-based agency Translation created the campaign.

DraftKings CMO Stephanie Sherman told Sports Business Journal the goal was to make the product’s broader availability simple to understand. “We wanted to embody that notion that you can engage with us no matter where you are; to make that simple and entertaining,” Sherman said.

Campaign targets states without legal online sportsbooks

The article said DraftKings wants to reach over-21 U.S. adults who have seen sportsbook advertising but have not been able to place bets because of their location. Sports Business Journal cited that group at 45% of over-21 adults.

Sherman said the company’s fall marketing push is focused on educating customers in those states that “there’s now another way to get in on the action with DraftKings.”

Other spots in the campaign promote touchdown player props and responsible gambling tools, including budgeting features in the app. The rollout also follows the expiration earlier this year of LeBron James’ deal to appear alongside Hart in DraftKings ads.

NFL season ad fight arrives with shifting market structure

The timing is notable as major operators prepare for another NFL season and, according to the article, DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics are expected to expand into 17 new states this fall through prediction market access.

Sports Business Journal also reported that DraftKings held 35% of U.S. sportsbook handle through June 2026, ahead of FanDuel at 32%. Fanatics was listed at 9%, followed by BetMGM at 8% and Caesars at 5%.

Vig Partners CEO Eric Foote told the publication that putting sportsbook betting and prediction markets into one app was “a genius move,” arguing that early product costs could be offset by more efficient marketing.

What comes next is whether DraftKings and rivals can turn that broader state footprint into customer growth during football season, particularly in places where traditional online sports betting is still not legal. The source article did not specify which states would receive prediction market availability under the unified app or how long the campaign will run.
