About Online Craps

The online craps at Tropicana includes optional sound effects of a busy casino floor making it feel like you’re at an Atlantic City craps table. The return to player (RTP) percentage is 99.73%, which is one of the best payback rates at the casino. But the DraftKings Craps is even better, with stunning animation and graphics that really immerse you in the action.

Online craps is played like you’re betting on the shooter, the person who throws the dice. However, if you want to bet like you’re the shooter, you can simply bet the pass line.

All the standard bets are available, and each throw of the dice is determined by random number generators (RNGs). The maximum bet is $50 and the minimum is $0.50 at Tropicana. For DraftKings Craps, the maximum is $2,000 and the minimum is $1.00.

Craps Rules

When you play craps in-person at a brick-and-mortar casino, one person throws a pair of dice while others bet on the outcome. For online craps, the dice are thrown by the computer, and you bet on the outcome.

Craps is played in two stages: off and on. The stages are represented by the token on the table which starts on the black “off” side.

To start the game, you must first place chips on the bet you want to place. The most popular options are the “pass line” and the “don’t pass bar” bets, but you can also bet on a specific number or a sequence of numbers.

Each roll of the dice can equal between 2 and 12 points. If the roll is 7 or 11, the pass line bet wins and the don’t pass bar bet loses. If the roll is 2, 3, or 12, the don’t pass bar bet wins and the pass line bet loses. If any other number is rolled, the token is flipped to “on” and you have access to several other betting options.

You then continue throwing the dice until you roll a 7 or 11 or a 2, 3, or 12. The game does not end until one of those five numbers is rolled.

A popular bet for when craps is “on” is the “come” bet, which is another wager that a 7 or 11 will come before a 2, 3, or 12.

Other betting options include betting on specific numbers, such as a 6, or betting on specific roll combinations, such as “snake eyes,” or two 1s.

The online craps at Tropicana New Jersey offers a detailed guide on how to place, and you can practice for free so you know exactly what you’re doing if you want to place in-person.

Craps Odds

With craps, the more likely an outcome, the lower the payout. The less likely an outcome, the higher the payout. It’s very similar to roulette in that sense.

For pass line and don’t pass bar, the payout is an even 1 to 1. That means you either double your money or you lose your bet–simple as that.

Beyond that, the payouts vary dramatically from bet to bet.

For example, the “pass line odds” is an option for when the game is on and you have a pass line bet. Click the “odds” button, and if the roll is 4 or 10, the payout is 2 to 1. If the roll is 5 or 9, the payout is 3 to 2. But if the roll is 6 or 8, the payout is 5 to 6.

Essentially, you can boost the payout potential of the pass line bet with a pass line odds bet. You can also click the odds button again to turn it off and on between throws.

For some of the betting areas, the payout is presented directly on the table. Here are some examples:

  • Hard Ways: Two 2s and two 5s pay out 7 to 1 while two 3s and two 4s pay out 9 to 1.
  • Horns: 1 and 2 pay out 16 to 1, and so too does 6 and 5. Two 1s pay out 33 to 1, and double sixes pay out 33 to 1 as well.

The different payouts are presented with all the rules in the info section of the game.

How To Play Craps At Casinos

Any casino with table games will likely have a few craps tables. However, craps ranks relatively low in popularity compared to blackjack and roulette, which is probably why it’s so hard to find at US online casinos.

To play craps at an in-person casino, find a table and place bets while someone else throws. When you have a chance to throw the dice yourself, you can do so. All you have to do is throw the dice against the back wall and place the table minimum bet.

The thrower typically bets the pass line for each throw, so you’re rolling for either a 7 or an 11 while everyone else is placing bets to their hearts’ content. If you throw a 2, 3, or 12, your bet loses and someone else takes over as thrower.

In places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City, craps can get lively and is a lot of fun. Don’t be intimidated by the crowd. After you get some practice in playing online craps for free, you can jump right in and win money alongside everyone else.
