The first month of 2021 has New Jersey online casinos on pace to produce more than $1 billion in revenue in 2021. There’s still a long way to go before 2021 wraps up, but January saw mobile casinos in the Garden State set an all-time monthly revenue record.

New Jersey’s online casinos pulled in more than $100 million in January revenue, crossing the nine-figure monthly threshold for the first time. The online gambling boom of 2020 continues into the new year, with New Jersey’s online casino market setting the standard in the legal US industry.

New Jersey’s mobile casinos earned $101,027,021 in January. That figure represents an 89.7% increase in year-to-revenue revenue versus January 2020.

The Golden Nugget Atlantic City license (Golden Nugget, Betfair, SugarHouse, TwinSpires) began 2021 at its usual spot atop the monthly revenue rankings. Borgata (Borgata, BetMGM, PartyCasino, Pala Casino) continues to close the gap between No. 1 and No. 2, however.

The licenses owned by Golden Nugget, Borgata, and Resorts Digital Gaming (Resorts, Mohegan Sun, PokerStars Casino, DraftKings Casino) all realized gains over December, the previous benchmark for monthly revenue in New Jersey’s online casino industry.

The Tropicana Casino license (Tropicana, Virgin Casino, William Hill) marked another big upward mover in this month’s revenue reports from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The Tropicana license gained 17.4% month-to-month.

Online casinos in New Jersey earned $931.5 million in 2020. The mobile casino market in the Garden State is off to a start that projects to more than $1.2 billion in revenue for 2021.

New Jersey’s regulated poker sites dropped 9.1% in monthly revenue from December. The January figure of $2,744,291 in online poker revenue still marks a 49.8% increase year-over-year, however.

The battle for market share shook out as a relatively even division among the state’s three online poker operators. The US online poker industry could be in for a boom in the upcoming months, however, as both PokerStars NJ and the partypoker US Network (under the Borgata license) could merge their New Jersey player pools with the newly legalised online casinos in Michigan.
