January continued a long-running streak of new heights for the Pennsylvania online casino industry. Each of the final six months of 2020 saw the Keystone State’s mobile casinos set an all-time monthly revenue record, only to have that benchmark surpassed the following month.
That trend continued in the opening month of 2021. The monthly revenue reports from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show online casinos earning $77,687,531 in January, up 12.8% from December’s previously record-breaking $68,879,530 monthly mark.
Pennsylvania’s mobile casino apps produced just under $530 million in revenue in 2020. If the state’s legal online casino industry can keep up January’s pace throughout 2021, this year could see Pennsylvania’s mobile casino platforms earn something in the neighborhood of $1 billion in revenue.

Penn National Gaming reigns supreme in Pennsylvania, with a trio of online casinos under its interactive gaming license. The PGCB changed its reports for 2021, merging those three platforms (DraftKings Casino, Hollywood Casino, BetMGM) into the same line.
The combined revenue from those products puts the Penn National license at the top of January’s market share rankings. The Rivers Philadelphia license (SugarHouse, BetRivers) relinquishes its usual spot at the top of the Bonus.com revenue roundup under the new PGCB reporting method.
Each license is permitted to include multiple different online casino skins. For now, only Penn National and Rivers Philadelphia have multiple products under their respective licenses.
FanDuel Casino (the lone product under the Valley Forge license) stands as a major player in the Pennsylvania iGaming market. FanDuel Casino earned $14,747,594 in January, up 32.1% month-to-month.
Parx Casino, PokerStars Casino, and Unibet all brought in at $3 million for their respective operators, as the Pennsylvania iGaming market persists as one of the most competitive in the US.
Pennsylvania levies a 34% tax on interactive slots revenue, with table games taxed at 14%. Pennsylvania’s online casino produced $21,077,843 in tax revenue for the state in January.

PokerStars PA functions as Pennsylvania’s lone online poker operator, but the era of PokerStars representing 100% of the state’s mobile poker market comes to an end soon. BetMGM Poker is expected to launch in February, while 888poker and GGPoker are both approved to operate in the state at some point.
PokerStars PA remained steady from December to January, pulling in almost identical revenues in both months. The $2,725,600 revenue figure marks a 10.2% increase over the January 2020 numbers produced by PokerStars PA.
