Hollywood Casino’s standalone app is available for Pennsylvania online casino players just in time for the holidays and ahead of an expected “early ‘25” launch.

On Wednesday, Penn Entertainment shared that it was “pleased to announce the launch of its stand-alone Hollywood Casino app” in the Keystone State.

In the announcement, PENN’s chief technology officer, Aaron LaBerge, expressed excitement over the launch and plans to expand to new markets in the coming year.

We’re excited to launch Hollywood Casino as a stand-alone app in Pennsylvania, giving our customers access to their favorite games in a dedicated, casino-first experience. With four Hollywood Casino properties in the state, the app leverages our trusted retail brand and creates a seamless connection between our online and retail gaming experiences. We look forward to bringing this enhanced Hollywood Casino experience to more iCasino markets in early 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

New app offers direct access to Hollywood’s charms

Built on Penn’s proprietary tech stack, Hollywood Casino offers players “exciting” jackpots, daily promotions, and over 700 games, including slots, table, and live dealer titles.

Over 600 of the platform’s available games are slots, including popular games Candy Paradise and Bruno’s Vegas Gold Blitz. Hollywood also prominently features live dealer games like Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette in Hollywood’s ample catalog.

A dedicated ‘casino floor’ lobby lets players find virtual versions of their favorite PENN retail property slots. The online casino also features original titles from PENN’s in-house casino game studio, including Legendary Larry and Wuji Mines.

With the introduction of the standalone option, Pennsylvania players can access Hollywood through the new app or ESPN Bet using the same login. Penn says the shared credentials allow for a seamless experience across its platforms.

For those looking to switch to the standalone option, Hollywood Casino is available on Android, iOS, and desktop. It’s also fully integrated into Penn’s loyalty program, Penn Play, allowing members to earn and redeem rewards, tier benefits, and personalized services.

Penn delivers a holiday surprise

By all accounts, today’s sooner-than-expected announcement caught the industry by surprise.

During a May earnings call, Penn CEO Jay Snowden first set the “early ‘25” expectation for Hollywood Casino’s launch. However, he hinted at the time that it may not take quite that long.

We will have that ready to go in very early ’25, hopefully, a little earlier, but we’ll say early ’25.

Then, in August, Snowden reiterated those plans:

By early 2025, we expect to introduce our first standalone iCasino app, which will allow us to better leverage the strength of the Hollywood brand and robust casino database.

However, we now know Snowden got what he hoped for in May with an early blessing from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

And today, Penn jumped on its 2025 plans by taking Hollywood Casino live.
