The online casino surge shows no sign of slowing down. New Jersey’s legal mobile casino platforms set an all-time monthly revenue record in July, even with retail casinos in Atlantic City open for business.

Online poker in New Jersey posted big July numbers, led by Caesars Interactive. The WSOP NJ and 888Poker NJ skins hosted events on the US side of the WSOP Online Bracelet Series and set all-time highs in monthly revenue for the Caesars Interactive license.

Pennsylvania’s online casino market continues to ride an upward trend as well, as the summer months keep producing promising numbers for the US legal online casino industry.

Record Month For New Jersey’s Online Casinos in July

Land-based casinos in New Jersey reopened July 2, marking the first time in nearly four months that customers could enjoy the Atlantic City live casino experience. Retail casinos got back to business, but that projected no apparent detrimental effect on online casinos in New Jersey.

Monthly revenues for New Jersey’s state-regulated online casinos hit an all-time high in July, with more than $82.6 million in earnings posted. The previous high came in May 2020. April, May, June, and July 2020 sit in the top four spots on New Jersey’s all-time monthly revenue list for online casinos.

Golden Nugget Atlantic City stands atop the mountain once again as the state’s top-earning online casino operator. The four skins under the Golden Nugget Atlantic City license (Golden Nugget NJ, Betfair, SugarHouse, and BetAmerica) brought in more than $31.4 million in July, which marks an all-time monthly high for the brand.

Resorts Digital Gaming and Borgata continue to compete for the No. 2 spot in New Jersey. New Jersey’s online casinos are up 98.7% in year-over-year revenue.

The July figures from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement can be found here.

With US events in World Series of Poker Online Bracelet Series available to New Jersey players throughout July, Caesars Interactive realized an all-time monthly high for the online poker skins under its license.

The duo of platforms licensed to Caesars Interactive (WSOP NJ, 888Poker NJ) posted more than $2.8 million in revenue for July, by far the biggest month for the brand since Caesars Interactive debuted online poker in New Jersey in November 2013.

The live edition of the 2020 World Series of Poker was postponed due to COVID-19, but WSOP responded by producing a schedule of 31 bracelet events for US players on WSOP Nevada, and the WSOP/888 network in New Jersey. The WSOP Online Bracelet Series ran throughout July, boosting overall New Jersey online poker revenue to its second-highest monthly total ever.

Good News For The PA Online Casino Market

Pennsylvania’s online casino revenue dipped in June following record-setting numbers in May. The monthly revenue figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board showed a big July rebound for mobile casino gambling in the Keystone State.

Online casinos pulled in more than $51.3 million in revenue in Pennsylvania in July. Pennsylvania shows a similar trend to New Jersey, with May, June, and July 2020 standing as the three biggest months in the history of the state’s online casino industry.

Pennsylvania’s online casino industry hasn’t been around nearly as long as New Jersey’s, but the growth potential appears promising. Rivers Casino Philadelphia still takes the No. 1 spot in Pennsylvania in earnings by online casino operator.

Penn National Gaming, which operates two different licenses, is seeing its DraftKings Casino revenue catching up to its other license, Hollywood Casino.

FanDuel Casino and Parx Casino took second and third place in the state for July revenue by operator.

April saw PokerStars PA earn more than $5.25 million in revenue, but the platform has realized declining earnings in each month since. Licensed to Mount Airy Casino Resort, PokerStars PA might soon be joined by WSOP and partypoker in the Pennsylvania market.
