Rhode Islanders gambling on Bally Casino during the online casino app’s soft launch day on March 1 were so quiet, they didn’t take to social media to complain, and the regulator had nothing new to report. That’s a bit of a surprise because all but online slots are being brought to online casino gamblers by live dealers.
Part of the reason for that apparently seamless iGaming debut may be due to the invite-only status of the account holders during the first four days of sign-ups. Another is that the Rhode Island online casino marketplace debut is for only one app. Bally Casino fully launches at noon on March 5.
Meanwhile, the top mention of “Rhode Island” on social media on March 1 was unrelated to the online casino debut. Instead, posters said the wildfire in Texas is bigger than the state.
Bally Casino’s Live Dealers Are Working
In any other state, online casino live dealer games are an option for gamblers — not the default.
However, Rhode Island lawmakers were concerned that they’d have to bring online casino legalization to the voters to change the state constitution. Because iGaming would’ve represented legal gambling expansion and required a referendum, they chose to have live dealers housed in an already legal commercial casino host the games.
So, other than online slots that are in a different legal category, live dealer streams appear for online casino gamblers in Rhode Island. At the moment, gamblers can play blackjack and roulette with croupiers in a Stakelogic studio in Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort.
The Rhode Island Current got a tour of the facility on Feb. 29.
So, the surprise in the monopoly marketplace awarded to Bally’s Corporation (Bally’s Corporation 18,10 -0,11%) is that the soft launch is going smoothly.
Meanwhile, the Rhode Island Bally Casino soft launch brings the site’s active online casino states to three because Bally Casino is already live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
