The Seminole Tribe of Florida and Hard Rock International committed $1,000,000 to fund Hurricane relief for those in Florida and the Carolinas impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Donated funds will help World Central Kitchen (WCK) and the American Red Cross deliver emergency support and facilitate long-term rebuilding for communities dealing with the aftermath.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa has also established a state-designated shelter at its Event Center, offering refuge for over 1,000 displaced people. The temporary shelter provides essential services and resources, including meals, medical care, and safety for families forced to flee the hurricanes.
Further, the Tampa location has shared 1,000 meals with displaced citizens in the surrounding community.
Marcellus Osceola Jr., chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, shared the tribe’s commitment to helping those in need.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida has always been committed to helping our neighbors in times of crisis. We’d like to thank Governor Ron DeSantis for his partnership in uplifting our communities at this critical time. With the help of our dedicated teams across Florida, we are able to make a meaningful impact for those in need after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Relief Efforts in Action Across Five States
Later this month, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will host a special invite-only check presentation. There, Hard Rock executives and honored guests will present the $1 million donation to WCK and the Red Cross representatives.
After the hurricanes struck, WCK, founded by chef José Andrés, arrived in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. WCK established its mobile kitchen at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa shelter and began preparing meals for those seeking refuge. The organization’s Chef Corps, restaurant and food truck partners, and volunteers have fed thousands of families, first responders, and evacuees.
The other beneficiary, the American Red Cross, is currently working alongside its partners in five states. Their aim is to ensure “no one faces the heartbreaking destruction alone.” In total, nearly 2,000 Red Crossers are supporting relief hurricane efforts—700 in Florida alone.
Hard Rock International Chairman and Seminole Gaming CEO Jim Allen said the effort is just the beginning.
Opening our doors to displaced families in Tampa and providing financial support is just the beginning of our ongoing commitment to the recovery efforts. We are very grateful for the incredible work our partners at World Central Kitchen and American Red Cross do across the globe.
