Maine’s effort to legalize online casinos hasn’t received as much attention as, say, New York or Indiana, because the size of the potential market is small. However, it has a good chance of becoming the next state to become successful in doing so.

House Rep. Laura Supica is the primary advocate of iGaming in the state. Her 2024 online casino bill made it as far as a floor vote in the House, but was narrowly defeated.

If Maine is successful in legalizing online casinos, it will likely use a model similar to what it has for sports betting. This limits master licenses to the state’s tribal gaming entities. There are two sports betting brands operating in the state—DraftKings and Caesars—which would likely become the Maine online casino operators as well.
