VGW, short for Video Gaming Worlds, is the company behind several of the most prominent sweepstakes model social gaming products in the US:

Chumba Casino
Luckyland Slots
Global Poker

It also develops unrelated social video games under the VGW Play brand.

VGW’s sweepstakes model uses a double-currency approach. Players buy play money tokens and receive a free bonus of “Sweeps Coins” in the process. They can then play games with their Sweeps Coins to try to earn enough to redeem for cash prizes.

This model provides a convenient alternative to real money gambling in states that haven’t legalized online casinos and poker. However, it’s controversial, and VGW is among the social casino companies that have had to settle lawsuits challenging their business model.
