Iowa Online Casino Bill Enters a Thinning 2023 iGaming Legalization Field
An Iowa online casino bill, HSB227, emerged on March 8 in a thinning field of states attempting to legalize iGaming during 2023. State Rep. Bobby Kaufmann, who introduced a bill last year, sponsored the measure that sits in the Ways and Means Committee. Kaufmann, R-Wilton, is the chairman of that House committee. The Iowa online casino […]
Kentucky Skill Game Ban Passes Senate, Awaits Governor’s Signature
Senators voted 29-6 on March 14 to approve a Kentucky skill game ban, HB594. The bill takes on a gray area of legal gambling that’s spurred lawsuits nationwide and defied full regulation in many states. The bill that passed the House on March 8 in a 64-32 vote and the Senate today moves on to […]
Illinois Online Casino Bills See Unfortunate Committee Re-Routing
Illinois online casino bills HB2239 and SB1656 took unfortunate turns on March 10 into committees where they may die due to inaction. However, hope for the Internet Gaming Act (IGA) to become law may not completely disappear until May 19, when the Illinois General Assembly adjourns. On Friday, HB2239 was re-routed from the House Gaming Committee […]
New York Online Casino Legalization Hopes Likely Dead
New York online casino legalization may not happen in 2023, says S4856‘s sponsor. State Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr.‘s office told Bonus on March 13 that the measure probably won’t make it into the budget lawmakers are discussing. Bills that are included in the $227 billion state budget tend to become law. Addabbo’s press secretary, […]
New York Online Casino Legalization Efforts Continue, Perhaps Into the Weekend
New York online casino legalization efforts will continue into March 10 and perhaps March 11, according to state Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr.‘s office. The Ozone Park Democrat told a group of iGaming leaders on March 7 that March 9 would be the do-or-die date for A3634 and S4856. Addabbo’s press secretary, Anthony Giudice, tells […]
Sen. Addabbo: iGaming Legislation Dead in NY on March 9 Without Support
The 2023 effort to expand online gambling in New York will fail if Assembly or Senate iGaming bills aren’t included in the “one house” versions of the State Legislature‘s budget proposal on March 9. So state Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. urged iGaming leaders he’d gathered for a roundtable discussion on March 7 to reach out […]
Fanatics Online Casino May Follow ‘First Step’ in Online Sports Betting
Fanatics Online Casino is coming to the US eventually but isn’t ready to launch quite yet. However, the beta test of Fanatics Sportsbook for online sports betting is underway in Tennessee and is a “first step,” according to a spokesman for the sports apparel e-tailer. Beta tests, or “soft launches,” are regulatory steps states take […]
New York Online Gambling Sees Mix: iGaming Meeting, ‘Predatory Sportsbook Bonuses’ Bill
New York online gambling may see a mixture of love and hate this month, with a March 7 iGaming meeting scheduled with lawmakers and attempts to further regulate existing legal online sports betting. The Empire State saw movement on the latter on March 3, when state Sen. Peter B. Harckham filed S5395 – a bill […]
Flutter Lauds US FanDuel Casino Performance, Promises iGaming Product Upgrades
FanDuel Casino is the primary reason Flutter Entertainment‘s US iGaming market share rose to 21% in Q4 2022, complete with a 63% increase in players each month during that quarter. According to the March 2 Flutter earnings report, its US iGaming brands of FanDuel Casino, PokerStars, and Stardust will soon see improved products and player […]
Illinois Online Casino Bill Sees Movement in House
The House version of the Illinois online casino bill, HB2239, entered a second committee on Feb. 28. That’s its first movement since being introduced on Feb. 8 and bodes well for the Internet Gaming Act (IGA) getting a hearing there soon. The House Gaming Committee, where the Illinois online casino bill now resides, hosts 10 […]
