Best New York Online Casinos — More on Our Top-Rated Sites
New York still needs to legalize online casinos and set forth regulations governing them. Once New York’s online casino market goes live, you can expect some of the top brands to enter the fray and bring their offerings to Empire State players. Here are three of the top contenders.
BetMGM Casino
BetMGM’s offering is backed by a massive land-based casino conglomerate, so its portfolio is expansive and ever-growing. The online casino is, simply put, one of the best you can find in any legal market. When BetMGM Casino New York launches, it will likely be one of the best options for players in the state.
Bolstered by an incredible slots library, live dealer games, table game options, and more, BetMGM is a top recommendation for almost any online casino player.
The welcome bonus at BetMGM varies by state. In New York upon launch, we expect it will include a deposit match—likely 100% up to $1,000—and a no deposit bonus of around $25 or so. We’ll update this page when we know more, but that’s a good starting point if you’re trying to predict BetMGM NY’s online casino bonus.
BetRivers Casino
BetRivers is a well-known name in the online gambling industry, and they currently operate within all of the states that have legalized online casinos. Across the river in New Jersey, they’re popular due to their large game catalog and extensive selection of promotions for both new and existing players. Being that they’re already in a neighboring state and already have a presence in other states, we fully expect BetRivers Casino New York to launch when things go live.
The BetRivers Casino welcome bonus in New Jersey consists of a 100% deposit match up to $500 in Bonus Money, which is lower than some other offerings in The Garden State, but also allows newer players to get a headstart regardless. We expect a similar offer when New York launches. Additional terms and conditions apply.
DraftKings Casino
DraftKings may be best known as a sportsbook, but the company has carved a name for itself in the casino space, too. The online casino sets itself apart with interesting game themes unique to the platform. Plus, DraftKings Casino New York players will get access to one of the most streamlined and functional apps available in any online gambling market.
DraftKings offers a casino bonus that starts with a $35 no deposit bonus on sign up and your choice of one of the following deposit bonuses
- 100% deposit-match up to $2,000, 15x playthrough
- $100 with $5+ deposit, 1x playthrough requirements
FanDuel Casino
Wherever legal online casinos pop up, you can be sure you’ll find FanDuel there. FanDuel is an excellent all-in-one choice, and the FanDuel Sportsbook already operates in the Empire State. For those reasons, we do expect to see FanDuel Casino New York as an option when legalized.
In already legal states, FanDuel offers a nice rebate offer for new players that consists of a $1,000 Play it Again Bonus for the first 24 hours of play. And, what makes this (and other offers) so sweet is that FanDuel only holds a 1x playthrough requirement for all bonus funds.
Additional terms and conditions apply.

Overview
While we don’t yet have any legal online casinos in New York, we can make confident predictions of the real-money games that will launch based on already-legal states. New York will have some of the highest quality online casinos, which boast hundreds of games you’ve probably already come across at retail casinos across the country.
Players can also expect New York online casino bonuses that center around specific games. Mostly slots, but also games like blackjack, roulette, and live dealer. These bonuses include second-chance insurance, double the rewards points, and more. Slots make up the bulk of the online casinos bonues, though, often for the biggest titles like 88 Fortunes, Cleopatra, and Starburst.
Slots
Slots are the largest and most popular online casino games around the country – and for good reason. They come with various themes, features, and price levels for players of all types, making them appealing almost across the board.
In addition, online slots offer the chance for big jackpot wins, which isn’t as common when playing table games or live dealer games, for example. Slot progressive jackpots can, and often do, stretch to $500K and above, and those jackpots can be won on any spin. That brings us to our next point — any spin often includes the lowest minimums, which on slots can be as little as ten cents or less, making them accessible to even the newest or lowest-rolling players.
Table Games
Everything mentioned above that makes slots some of the top casino games in New York shouldn’t serve to discount table games. Table games offer the opportunity to play with strategy, enhancing your odds of winning beyond slots. We expect to see a large variety of online table games in New York, including the below for starters.
It’s worth noting that within each of these table game categories exists many variations and options, further enhancing variety. These variations often can’t be found at land-based casinos and add additional side bets and features to spice up your gameplay.
Live Dealer Games
Last but not least come live dealer games, an excellent choice for players who enjoy the true land-based casino experience. We expect to see live dealer games in New York, and we expect them to be quite popular.
Basically, live dealer games are table games played with a real dealer and real table via live stream. Players can interact with the dealer and other players at the table through chat, creating a nice sense of community you won’t find in other online casino games. Live dealer games also include non-traditional options, such as wheel-spinning games and gameshow-style offerings.
How We Rank New York Online Casinos
You may ask yourself how our casino experts rank New York online casinos — especially before they’ve even launched. It’s a fair question, and we want to ensure you that we take many factors into consideration, including our experience and knowledge from other states that offer legal online casinos. In general, online casino platforms don’t differ greatly from state to state, so utilizing our expert knowledge can give us a pretty clear picture of what to expect before the launch even happens. Below, we’ve listed other factors we take into consideration.
Licensed & Regulated
First and foremost, all New York online casinos we review must be licensed and regulated by the New York Gaming Commission. If they are not a legal online casino, they won’t be considered for our list, period.
Security & Data Protection
Next, we take a look at security and data protection. We want to ensure that any New York online casino we recommend protects its players’ personal and financial information. We also want to make sure that they utilize strong encryption on their website.
Game Selection
Now that the two most important parts are out of the way, we take a look at game selection. Not only do we consider whether or not they have slots, table games, and live dealer games, but also the variety within each category. We look at themes, minimum and maximum bets, features, and more.
Welcome Offers
When we can, we will always try to negotiate an exclusive welcome offer for our players. Even when we can’t, we take into consideration each online casino’s welcome offer. This includes looking past the initial dollar amount at the terms and conditions to ensure that the bonus is fair and attainable, amongst other considerations.
Loyalty & Rewards Program
While not mandatory, a solid loyalty & rewards program adds a lot to the player experience. When ranking, we look at whether or not a program is offered, how points and credits are earned, and what those points can be redeemed for.
Reputation
Every online casino operator holds a reputation, whether it’s from other states or even other countries. When our casino experts are ranking New York online casinos, they utilize their knowledge of those online casinos from other legal states to make decisions.
History of Online Gambling in New York
Through the passage of the New York Casino Gambling Amendment, Proposal 1, New York voters officially legalized land-based sports betting in The Empire State. Four new casinos were slotted to offer sports betting, pending the federal legalization of sports betting.
The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, otherwise known as PASPA, is overturned by the US Supreme Court, effectively ending the federal ban on sports betting. Although it came years after the 2013 state-level legalization, this enabled New York to begin crafting the sports betting industry in their state immediately.
Still without online sports betting, the first retail sportsbooks begin to open in NY. Many reputable and typically online-based companies opened their physical locations to start offering wagers to players. Larger names included DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook.
The New York state government begins to lay out the framework for online NY sportsbooks. This begins with a state budget bill, and an official launch date is targeted for early 2022.
Online sports betting officially launches in New York in early January 2022. Almost immediately, NY surpasses Nevada and NJ with $2.4 billion in wagers in the first five weeks of betting. NY sports bettors can finally take advantage of sportsbook bonuses and wager on their favorite sports, teams, and players .
Fresh off the heels of NY’s sports betting launch, New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo introduces S.B. 8412, a bill to legalize New York online casinos. Online casinos would be regulated by the New York State Gaming Commission. While the bill didn’t manage to slip into this year’s legislative session, it will almost certainly be considered next year.
Sen. Addabbo introduces S.B. 4856 in another attempt to legalize online casinos in New York. While not dead, it did not receive consideration in the annual budget, essentially killing hopes of online casinos in 2023. It is almost certain the bill will be up for consideration again in the 2024 legislative session.
