The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) announced the Connecticut online gambling soft launch, which includes both online casinos and sports betting apps. The soft launch will begin on Tuesday, October 12 at 3:00 PM ET. The platforms will include Mohegan Sun CasinoFanDuel Sportsbook, SugarHouse Sportsbook, and DraftKings Casino & Sportsbook

DCP Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull said, “As long as no issues arise, we have told the licensees they may move forward with the 7-day soft launch required in the regulations. Once the soft launch is complete, online gaming will open statewide.”

That means the hard launch of Connecticut online casinos and sports betting is set for the following Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Connecticut Online Gambling Bonuses At Launch

FanDuel Sportsbook$1,000 second-chance bet
SugarHouse Sportsbook100% deposit bonus up to $250 (1 x playthrough)
DraftKings Casino & Sportsbook100% deposit match up to $2,000 (15x playthrough at casino)

About Connecticut Online Gambling Soft Launch

The soft launch limits the number of players to 750 that can bet on a platform at one time. Further, the two online casinos and three online sportsbooks in Connecticut will only be available during the following times:

  • 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday (12th and 13th)
  • 12:00 PM to 11:59 PM on Thursday and Friday (14th and 15th)
  • 24-hour access from Saturday until the hard launch (16th, 17th, and 18th)

There is no stated limitations on bonus offers or promotions, so you can expect the standard offers from the online casinos and sportsbooks right away. These should be similar to those seen in other legal states, such as Pennsylvania and New Jersey sportsbook promos.

However, the gaming options at the CT online casinos will be a bit more limited. The games available are limited to what’s already been approved by the DCP, which includes over 100 games, most of which will be slots.

Mohegan Sun and DraftKings also won’t have any Live Dealer games, although we haven’t heard word on the availability of Live Dealers in the state yet. Most likely, Live Dealer games won’t become available for at least a few months, which has been the case in most states that legalized online casino gaming.

What To Expect From Connecticut Online Casinos

For the soft launch, both DraftKings Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino will have over 100 games, including slots, blackjack, baccarat, roulette, video poker, and more. New players will also probably have access to the Connecticut casino welcome bonuses:

  • DraftKings Casino: $25 no-deposit signup bonus + 100% deposit match up to $2,000
  • Mohegan Sun Casino: Up to $1,000 back in bonuses after first 24 hours of play

Terms and conditions apply to all bonus offers, including playthrough requirements. Please remember to follow Responsible Gaming guidelines as well.
