Online lottery courier Jackpot.com has launched a digital scratch ticket offering that enables customers in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Texas to play official state lottery scratch-offs in a fraction of the time typically required.

The all-new scratch-off addition to Jackpot.com’s signature “Scratchers” platform enables players to purchase their favorite official state lottery tickets on any device. The unique scratching technology “delivers the industry’s fastest online lottery scratch card experience,” the company says.

In the announcement, Akshay Khanna, Jackpot.com’s CEO and co-founder, said the company is committed to providing customers with the best digital scratch experience.

Unlike traditional draw-based lottery games with set draw times, scratch tickets offer players instant excitement. At Jackpot, we prioritize delivering the fastest and most comprehensive digital scratch card experience, ensuring that the excitement of instant results is always at your fingertips.

Khanna told Bonus through a spokesperson that the new technology takes only minutes to deliver customers their tickets.

Jackpot.com’s scratchers product gives customers the chance to play their favorite scratchers at their convenience in the way that they purchase almost everything else—from their phone. We have a seamless fulfillment process that ensures customers get their tickets in minutes.

Lottery couriers like Jackpot.com offer players a way to buy lottery tickets over the Internet in states that lack a true online lottery. They act as a middleman, taking orders and buying tickets on players’ behalf from a retailer, then delivering the results. Earlier this year, Jackpot.com became the official provider of lottery results to the Associated Press,

With higher price points, better payouts, and the offer of instant gratification, scratch tickets dominate the US lottery market. Indeed, scratchers alone encompass about two-thirds of the industry’s annual sales, which now exceed $100 billion.

However, as Jackpot.com noted, a recent Eilers & Krejcik (E&K) report found that online lottery couriers struggle with speed. On average, E&K found couriers took 30 to 90 minutes to deliver scratch tickets to online buyers.

Jackpot.com says its new tech allows for the fastest online lottery scratch card turnaround in the industry. Gaming Laboratories International (GLA) conducted a review process on the system to ensure accuracy and confirmed the Scratcher offering operates “as designed and intended.”

Per the release, Jackpot.com aims to be the preferred provider of digital scratch tickets by combining digital convenience with quick transaction and processing times.

Fulfillment times, said Khanna, are “critical” for scratchers designed to provide “instant gratification.”

Jackpot.com doesn’t benchmark itself on being faster than a customer going to the store – the process and transaction are much faster than that. The platform strives to minimize fulfillment times as much as possible to ensure the online experience ultimately delivers what customers seek from this type of game.

When customers buy an instant ticket through Jackpot.com, they can actually use their finger or mouse to “scratch,” much like a physical card.

Khanna told Bonus that the scratch experience that Jackpot.com created had “been extremely well-received” by customers so far.

In the digital experience, customers can interact with the scratch card in a similar way to the analog – using their finger to scratch the card and reveal the results. Customers no longer require a quarter and a hard surface – you can scratch in the car, on the subway, or on the couch.

Online Shift Opens Door to Younger Players

The system works similarly in all states. When a player wins, Jackpot.com instantly credits their account for any prize amounts under the state’s retail claim threshold. Wins over the threshold require the ticket owner to claim the prize personally. In those cases, the courier arranges delivery of the physical ticket or coordinates with the customer to allow them to pick it up in person.

Jackpot.com’s Massachusetts launch gave players access to eight instant scratch games, including Lifetime Millions and the first JAWS-themed instant ticket in the US.

The JAWS tickets debuted earlier this year in honor of the film’s upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration. They feature $1 million instant grand prizes and second-chance drawings. Thirty second-chance winners will win a “JAWS-inspired” trip for two to Martha’s Vineyard.

In Ohio, Jackpot.com also launched with eight instant scratchers, including Buckeye’s three most popular scratch-off games, Billion ($50), Lady Luck ($20), and Golden Casino ($10).

For now, Texans have access to Jackpot Millions, 500x, and five other tickets. However, Khanna said players in all three states can expect scratch-off inventory to expand.

Jackpot.com intends to continuously expand our scratchers offering to ensure lottery players in all our applicable markets have the variety they see in the retail experience.

Ultimately, Khanna said the company believes that even more lottery sales will happen online in the coming years. However, he noted that shift comes with a silver lining.

As with every other industry, Jackpot.com expects more and more transactions to occur online. But with that, comes opening the lottery to a new, younger demographic of players that is less willing or apprehensive to engage with analog products.
