How Does FanDuel Faceoff Work?

FanDuel Face off has 12 different real money skill games, each with its own rules. We’ll get into those later, but you can choose to play any of the games at any point.

The structure of FanDuel Faceoff is the same across each game. First, you select the game you want to play. This will bring up a few options. The first thing you’ll see is a “Challenge Your Friends” option. You can invite friends to play either for free or for real money against you. Click the drop-down to select the entry fee size and then follow the prompts from there to start the game.

The next option is “Standard,” which features the game’s default rules and scoring. Entry levels are typically sized like so:

As you can see, the payout is never quite double the entry fee. This is because FanDuel takes a cut of all entry fees. Then, the winner of the head-to-head game takes home the prize.

Some of the games on the FanDuel Faceoff app allow different game types. For example, Gronk Spike Cornhole lets you choose between Standard (one round of play) or Two Rounds (two rounds of play). The entry fees vary for each version of the game.

You aren’t required to pay money to play FanDuel Faceoff games. You can choose to play for free and use that as a way to learn the ins and outs of each game. You’ll still go head-to-head with someone else, but you won’t be playing for actual money. Outside of the standard head-to-head structure, FanDuel Faceoff runs regular tournaments for big prizes. At the time of writing, Puzzle Pyramid was the focus of the current tournament. For $4.44, players could enter and play a single round of the game, with the top scores going on a leaderboard. Once the tournament ended, the top players received a share of $10,000. If you get really good at one of Faceoff’s games, tournaments are a solid option if you want to try your hand at big wins.

Games at FanDuel Faceoff

FanDuel Faceoff offers 12 games. Each one has its own rules and tools to succeed. Below, we’ll briefly describe each game. To get a feel, we recommend trying them for free in the FanDuel Faceoff app.

Gronk Spike Cornhole

Play against a computerized version of Rob Gronkowski in a high-stakes cornhole match. You each get to throw five bags. Score points for landing a bag in the hole or on the board; lose points when Gronk scores. After five bags each, your score is tallied. The player you face does the same, and whoever emerges with more points gets the victory.

Gronk Spike Cornhole comes in Standard mode or Two Rounds mode.

Puzzle Pyramid

In Puzzle Pyramid, you match symbols with each other to eliminate them from the board. You can draw new symbols, but you can’t match symbols that are overlapping with others. The game requires a keen strategic eye so you can plan multiple moves in advance without trapping yourself and ending the game early because no moves remain. You can get a time bonus for finishing (or ending the game) early, too.

Jordan Spieth’s Fairway Frenzy

Take aim, swing back, and release at the right moment as you play a single hole of golf against another player. The fewer strokes you take, the higher your final score will be. This game comes with various structures. Standard features just one hole. Three Hole Showdown features three holes. You can also play Signature Holes, which will occasionally change. Multiplayer pits you against 10 players for a significantly larger prize than the normal $0.60 entry fee will get you.

Boggle

You have one minute to form as many words as possible by connecting letters on a 4×4 grid. Letters need to be adjacent (diagonal counts). You’ll do this three times, and the player with the highest score by the end wins! Get extra points for using a double letter, triple letter, double word, or triple word tile. You also get more points for using every letter on the board at least once during your 60 seconds. Boggle offers a standard mode and a 10-player multiplayer mode.

Block Trail

Block Trail is a play on Tetris. Instead of blocks falling down, you place them on a grid. You’re given three blocks at a time, and you can’t rotate them. The game ends when time runs out or when you can’t place any more blocks. You get points by completing lines up or down. Block Trail comes in Standard and Multiplayer modes.

Grand Slam Superstar

Step up to the plate and knock it out of the park, then do it again…and again. In Grand Slam Superstar, your only goal is to score as many runs as possible. You tap the screen to hit the ball; try to time it to hit one of the cards near the top of the screen. You can get 1, 2, or 3 bases or a home run, but -1 cards and outs are there too. Try to avoid them. Missing the ball entirely means an out. Five outs and your game ends. Otherwise, keep hitting until the time is up, and hope you scored more runs than your opponent.

Cue Masters

Cue Masters is pretty self-explanatory. It’s pool. You’re given stripes or solids, and you have to pocket your balls as fast as possible. The time element comes into play, benefitting players who are both accurate and fast. The Standard game mode is fun, but we recommend Bonus Pocket, which gives you extra points if you hit a ball into the marked pocket. You can also play Practice mode, with 99 lives, to hone your skills.

Field Goal Faceoff

In Field Goal Faceoff, you kick as many field goals as you can in a limited time by aiming and releasing at the right time. You also have to account for the wind, which can sway the ball quite a bit. Hit designated spots to get power-ups. Miss five times and your game ends.

Wheel of Fortune

You have seven turns in Wheel of Fortune. Spin the wheel and guess a letter. If it’s on the board, you see where it is in the puzzle, just like in the iconic game show. You’ll get points for each time the guessed letter appears in the puzzle. Guess a letter that isn’t there, and you’ll lose a turn. You can buy a vowel or try to solve the puzzle whenever you’d like. After the first puzzle, you play the bonus round, which gives you the letters RSTLNE, then you pick three more consonants and a vowel. Those letters are given to you, then you have 25 seconds to guess the solution for extra points.

Scrabble Cubes

This one’s a lot like Boggle, but it’s three-dimensional. Connect letters on rotatable cubes to make words. Use a cube three times, and it’ll disappear, paving the way for new connections. Keep an eye out for triple and double word or letter options to maximize your points.

Atari Breakout Blitz

Knock bricks off of the board by ricocheting the bouncing ball off a platform you control with your thumb. If the bricks get below a certain threshold, your game ends. Power-ups can help you keep the bricks at bay. Hitting multiple bricks with one bounce gets you combo multipliers. Your game ends when one of three things happens: 1) the bricks get too low, 2) time runs out, or 3) you lose four balls.

King’s Crossing

On a smaller version of a chess board, the king is placed at a starting point and given a specific path to follow to the end. Then, the board fills up with other chess pieces. You have to move them just so, allowing the king to follow the path to the end. Every move you make eliminates some potential speed points and there’s a clock ticking the whole way. Moving the king multiple spaces in one turn will get you streak points. Move him to the end quickly and with as few moves as possible to beat your opponent.
