To veteran online poker players, PokerStars’s absence from the Nevada market seems striking. The site, after all, has been one of the first operators in every new market and is also loved for its fantastic software. Lawmakers in Nevada took a hard stand against poker sites operating before the notorious Black Friday in 2011, where PokerStars was the chief defendant.

After a lengthy legalization process, Nevada online poker was officially signed into law in Feb. 2013 by former Nevada governor Brian Sandoval. Later, in 2015, Nevada joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement. These states that now allow multi-state online poker are Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Michigan, and West Virginia (although WV does not currently have any legal online poker sites).
