Evolution’s Dual Play Roulette will allow New Jersey online casino players to enjoy the game alongside their brick-and-mortar gambling peers at the Borgata. The product is now available at BetMGM Casino and Borgata Online Casino, streaming directly from the Borgata casino floor rather than a live dealer studio.
The Evolution Dual Play Roulette table will be located at a “prime location” on the casino floor. There will be multiple cameras so online players can fully immerse themselves in the action.
The new game has been voted Best UK Table Game Product at the British Gaming Awards, and BetMGM believes it will succeed in the US. BetMGM’s live dealer roulette products use American Roulette rules, meaning the wheel has a double-zero space in addition to the single-zero used for European Roulette.
Oliver Bartlett, Director of Online Gaming at BetMGM, shared his excitement about the new product. He said,
Dual Play Roulette truly meets players where they are. This is a great example of online and land-based casinos leveraging technology to bring players a better omnichannel experience.
James Bruno, Borgata’s Vice President of Casino Operations, shared Bartlett’s excitement about the collaboration and invited players to try the new product, which blends tradition with technology.
If Successful, Dual Play Could Land in Michigan
Dual Roulette is the first Dual Play product at an MGM property in the US. The choice of casino is not random. Borgata Casino in Atlantic City is the highest-grossing casino in New Jersey, with revenue of $356 million in the first half of the year. At the same time, New Jersey is the most mature online casino market in the US and one of the highest-grossing ones.
Depending on how Dual Roulette performs, it could make its way to Michigan. MGM Resorts owns the MGM Grand in Detroit and also has an online casino in the state. The game could make its way to states like New York and Ohio if they legalize online casinos.
If Dual Roulette becomes popular with players, MGM could also launch Evolution’s other Dual Play product, Dual Play Baccarat.
MGM Is Not the First to Roll Out the Game in the US
MGM Resorts is not the first company to roll out Dual Play Roulette. The game has been available at Resorts Atlantic City and Resorts Online Casino since 2018. Since then, Dual Play Roulette has been introduced to Mohegan Sun’s online casino, which also uses the Resorts license. Resorts Dual Play Roulette runs daily from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
One of the reasons why MGM added the game is to stay ahead of Resorts in terms of gross iGaming revenue by license holders. In March, Resorts took over the top spot from Borgata, a place the MGM property had held since 2021. Since then, Borgata has reclaimed its spot, but the two casinos and Golden Nugget are in a tight three-way race for the lead.
Dual Play Roulette Is the Latest Evolution Launch in 2023
Introducing Dual Play Roulette to MGM customers is another expansion of Evolution in the US. In July, the company introduced Lightning Dice in New Jersey. That marked the third game in the Lightning series available in the state, after Lightning Roulette and Lightning Blackjack.
Just a couple of months prior, Evolution expanded its live dealer craps to Michigan. Evolution also expects to roll out more products in 2023. In May, Evolution’s North American CEO, Jacob Claesson, told Bonus that 2023 will be busy for the company.
