One of the largest online gambling states in the United States added another competitor to the industry on Tuesday. PlayStar Casino gained access to New Jersey via a partnership with Oceans Casino Resort, sparking interest across the industry.
For those not familiar, PlayStar Casino is an Asia-based real-money gambling developer. PlayStar is not currently available in the United States, but the company has a serious presence overseas. PlayStar Casino intends to launch in New Jersey during quarter 4 of 2021. Furthermore, PlayStar is expecting to launch in the other US states in 2022 as well.
Adam Noble, co-founder and Executive Vice President of PlayStar Casino, expressed his excitement for New Jersey access: “We are delighted to have secured access to the thriving New Jersey market through Ocean Casino Resort. We have shaped our proposition through extensive market research and analysis of customer behavior to ensure maximum engagement and entertainment. This is the first step towards PlayStar Casino becoming a favorite amongst players across the US.”
Could A PlayStar Sportsbook Be Next?
It is important to recognize that the partnership with Oceans Casino gives PlayStar the opportunity to operate a sportsbook as well as a casino. This is a huge opportunity for PlayStar, as the company does not currently operate a sportsbook.
The expectation should be that they attempt to launch a sportsbook at some point in the near future. There could also be an opportunity for PlayStar to buy a sportsbook or partner with one to take advantage of their situation. Whether they partner or operate their own, there is little doubt that the venture could be lucrative.
Not taking advantage of New Jersey access would be a massive missed opportunity for PlayStar. New Jersey took $1 billion in online sports bets in 2020, the most in the United States. Follow our link to find the best NJ sportsbook promos currently available.
PlayStar has years of experience in the online casino market. PlayStar Casino came onto the scene in 2015 in Taiwan. Since then the company has been very successful across the Asian marketplace.
Unless PlayStar is developing their sportsbook as we speak, I would expect them to partner with one before their launch in Q4. It is in their best interest to use their sports betting access as soon as possible.
