The MGM Rewards loyalty program has received an upgrade that applies to gamblers on land and sea, as well as online. The most significant change is the insertion of Milestone Rewards as intermediate goals in between some of the existing Loyalty Tiers, as well as upgrades to two of those tiers. Although BetMGM’s online gambling sites have a separate rewards system and point balance, the Tier Credits are shared with MGM Rewards, so the changes to that system benefit BetMGM users as well.
On top of that, there will be added benefits for Marriot Bonvoy Tier Matching as well as extra access through Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises.
While not every member will be impacted, increased benefits for enjoying casino games and a vacation with MGM is only a good thing.
Updates to Milestone Rewards will be the change that impacts the most players
To better serve its players, MGM has added two Milestone Rewards along the way to the Gold and Platinum Tiers. Those Tiers also got an upgrade for players that reach them.
The Milestones consist of a Tier Credit boost for the following year. At 50,000 Credits, which is two-thirds of the way to Gold status, you’ll get to carry forward 7,500 Credits to the following year. At 125,000 Credits (another 50,000 past Gold), you’ll carry forward another 17,500 Credits, for a total of 25,000. That’s enough to instantly start out at Pearl status.
The rewards spike dramatically at Gold Tier to include $100 of FreePlay Credits and a $100 Tier Celebration Credit at MGM Resorts to be used on hotel rooms, dining, the spam, any available entertainment and more. A member can also receive 17,500 Rollover Tier Credits to get a big boost on the next tier if they accumulate 125,000 Tier Credits in that calendar year.
Both Platinum and Noir Tiers might be a bit unobtainable for regular players, but the benefits associated were improved by MGM as well. Platinum gets a $200 Tier Celebration Credit, $100 FreePlay Credits while Noir gets $500 in Tier Celebration Credits and $200 in FreePlay Credits. Both Platinum and Noir tiers also have the same 17,500 Rollover Tier Credits bonus as the Gold Tier as well.
The newly added benefits do not end their either. Now, these MGM Rewards Tiers are also linked to Marriot Bonvoy.
Marriott Bonvoy Tier Matching and benefits on cruises
MGM Rewards members who are at the Gold, Platinum or Noir tiers are also now eligible for tier matching with Marriot Bonvoy as well as additional benefits with both Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean.
MGM Rewards Gold Tier members receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Tier Matching as well as an annual cruise benefit which includes up to five nights with an ocean view. The cruise benefit has a trade in value of $750 for those not interested in hitting the open seas.
Marriot Bonvoy tier matching has always included MGM Rewards Platinum members as Gold Elite members so there is no change there. The big shift is with cruise benefits which includes up to seven nights and a room with a balcony. The trade-in value of that annual cruise package is $1,500.
Lastly are the benefits from being an MGM Rewards Noir member, the highest possible tier. That immediately gives the member access to Ambassador Elite tier match through Marriot Bonvoy. Plus, it includes up to 10 nights in a junior suite as an annual cruise benefit which has a trade-in value of $3,000.
Next up: a new MGM Rewards credit card and access to eGift Cards
The last benefit for being an MGM Rewards member is a 5% discount on all eGift Card purchases over $300. This is available to every tier of MGM Rewards.
Additionally, MGM announced it is working toward a credit card which will unlock another level of rewards, travel benefits and a chance to earn tier credits at a quicker pace. There is no concrete information on this new credit card yet, but stay tuned for a breakdown when it is announced.
